(July 30th, 2023) – Corey Barton (#995) went into the history books as the winner in the return of Enduro competition to Speedway 660 on Sunday. Barton took the lead for the final time on the 61st of 100 laps of competition and held on to score the victory! Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter driver Daniel Atyeo (#15) finished second with Courtney Barton (#21) in third.
For Barton, the win came with some fortune. Transmission troubles onset in the final laps for his #995 car, but he was able to coast across the line – with a little assistance – to take the win.
Riley Frost (#10) ran the fastest lap of the race and had several stints out front but would end up coming home fourth at the end.
With many competitors still preparing cars, the field was on the lighter side – but those who did make an appearance put on a great show from start to finish. It is the start of the rebuild of Enduro action at Speedway 660 – a class that for many decades produced spills and thrills and entertained thousands of fans!
Work is already underway for the Enduro to return in September – in what is scheduled to be the final event of the 2023 season! Speedway 660 is already planning special features to incorporate into this show to make it a monumental send off to the 30th anniversary season in the Geary Woods. Spread the word – because on September 24th when Enduro action returns – it is going to be big!
The Enduro finale will cap of a busy stretch run for the 2023 season at Speedway 660. Next weekend, from August 4th to 6th, 2023, the World Series of Monster Trucks invades the Geary Woods, before stock car racing returns one week later for the Gunslinger 75 for the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter division on Saturday August 12th.
Saturday August 19th sees the return of the Super Late Model Series for the Recar 150 presented by Wonder Auto and Tire. This will set the stage for Speedweekend just two weeks later – running from September 1st to 3rd, 2023 – which will be headlined by the 23rd Annual Pro Stock 250.
The Enduro finale on Sunday September 24th will wrap up the season as part of the Riverview Honda Weekend of Champions, with all four stock car classes in action on Saturday September 23rd to see season long champions crowned!
