(August 21st, 2023) – For the first time since Jimmy Spencer competed in 2011, a national star will enter Speedway 660’s Pro Stock 250.

NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series star Stewart Friesen will compete against Atlantic Canada and New England’s best on Sunday September 3rd when the green flag flies for the 23rd Annual Pro Stock 250. Friesen will be part of the field of nearly thirty entries for New Brunswick’s biggest stock car race which will pay a whopping $15,000 to the win, plus lap leader bonuses and contingencies.

Friesen, who originally hails from Ontario, Canada and is best known for his dirt prowess, is a three-time winner on the Truck Series stage and has four appearances in the series’ playoffs, with a best finish of fourth in 2019. Friesen drives the #52 Toyota Tundra for Halmar Friesen Racing and sits eleventh in 2023 points with five top five finishes to his credit thus far. Friesen will be competing this weekend at the Milwaukee Mile for the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series before heading to New Brunswick.

While being a Super DirtCar star with over a hundred dirt racing victories and many championships across various levels of competition, Friesen does have a knack for pavement racing – including a pair of top five finishes in past CARS Super Late Model Tour action – that is sure to make him a threat to win. On an off weekend from his NASCAR duties, he is looking forward to making the trip north and take to the track in the Geary Woods.

“We’re very excited to partner with Speedway 660 and everyone else to bring AIM Autism and awareness to VIVA New Brunswick” said Stewart when asked about the opportunity to compete in eastern Canada.

Stewart Friesen will be racing to raise funds and awareness for his own foundation – AIM Autism – and VIVA Therapeutic Services.

AIM Autism is committed to helping individuals and their families by raising funds for schools and organizations that provide education and ABA therapy program for those on the Autism spectrum.

Having a national star such as Friesen in the field adds excitement and anticipation for both fans and drivers ahead of SpeedWeekend, and puts Speedway 660 on the map as it prepares for its biggest weekend of the year.

“This is something we have been working towards for years, and we are thrilled to finally have a national icon back on track at Speedway 660,” said Brent Roy of Speedway 660. “Stewart Friesen is a household name, and we are very pleased to welcome him to the Geary Woods with this partnership with AIM Autism and VIVA Therapeutic Services.”

“Race fans who haven’t booked their tickets and camping yet will want to do so, because SpeedWeekend 2023 is going to be one for the history books.”

Many talented drivers such as NASCAR champions Terry Labonte, Johnny Benson and Ron Hornaday Jr, and Daytona 500 champion Sterling Marlin have competed in the Pro Stock 250. However, none of them ever found victory lane, a stat Friesen hopes to change.

This effort couldn’t have been completed without the help of some amazing sponsors including NAPA AUTOPRO C.B. Warrens Auto Care, AA Towing, Targett’s Windows & Doors, Matt’s Insulation, AJW Mechanical and Urquhart Construction. These partners have been instrumental in making this a reality, and Speedway 660 welcomes more partnerships wishing to help this cause. None however have been more important then Andy Fox and the Waterfront Pub, lending himself to the car owner role for the weekend. Andy has been a long time supporter of Speedway 660 and wanted to be a part of this amazing cause.
