(FREDERICTON, NB – August 4th, 2022) – After a one-year hiatus, one of the biggest Street Stock races in Canada returns! Speedway 660 is the stage for the fourth edition of the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 150 presented by McCoy’s Auto Repair on Saturday, August 6th. The card also includes championship racing in the RE/MAX East Coast Elite Realty Pro Stock, Late Model Sportsman and Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter divisions. Racing begins on Saturday at the Geary, New Brunswick oval at 6:30pm.
With the Ricky Bobby 150 presented by McCoy’s Auto Repair always delivering one of the biggest fields of Shur-Fit Auto Parts, Bumper to Bumper Street Stocks throughout the region, the 2022 edition brings us one deep in both quality and quantity of drivers. Twenty-eight drivers have entered the event, which includes three former Ricky Bobby 150 race winners, several track champions and countless feature winners throughout several divisions in the region. Several marketing partners within the racing community have stepped up to raise over $11,000 in contingency awards above and beyond the regular race pay. Michael Cormier (Grand-Barachois, NB), Luc McLaughlin (Geary, NB) and Courtney O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB) enter the Ricky Bobby 150 in search of a second victory in the race. The trio each enters battles from different angles. Cormier is one of the top Street Stock drivers in the region and is the reigning Maritime Street Stock Series champion. McLaughlin was the top Street Stock division driver in his day and has returned with a beautiful entry after a stint in Late Model Sportsman and Pro Stock competition. O’Blenis is racing for a championship in the Late Model Sportsman class in 2022 and returns to race the No. 28 car for Tom Nicholls on Saturday evening.
Former Shur-Fit Auto Parts, Bumper to Bumper Street Stock track champions the likes of Rick Cashol (Saint John, NB), Shawn Hyslop (St. Stephen, NB) and reigning champion Riley Goodwin (McAdam, NB) are all looking to add the Ricky Bobby 150 to their resume after Saturday evening. Justin Cole (Harvey, NB), Kyle MacKinnon (Lincoln, NB), Bill Storey (Fredericton, NB), rookie Ron Enkel (Saint John, NB), Karl Schaefer (Woodstock, NB) and more just begin to scratch the surface of drivers looking to keep the Ricky Bobby 150 title at their home track.
From the north and south of New Brunswick, Speedway 660 is going to be a stomping ground for many this weekend. From the Northern part of the Province, Brad MacLean (Black River, NB), Mark Kingston (Miramichi, NB), Bryar Ellis (Janeville, NB) and Matt Pelletier all either call Speedway Miramichi home or will haul from the area this weekend to New Brunswick’s Capital Region. From the Southeast, Targett’s Windows and Doors 100 winner Kenny MacKenzie Jr (Salisbury, NB), Logan Power (Riverview, NB), Martin Landry (Grand-Barachois, NB), Drew Lewis (Salisbury, NB) and Brayden Tingley (Turtle Creek, NB) have all signaled intentions to make the haul north to Speedway 660.
Jonathan Hanley (St. Stephen, NB), the brother of late driver and former track champion Chris Hanley, will continue his rookie season in the No. 16 car. Ricky Arbeau (Fredericton, NB), the son of the late Rick “Ricky Bobby” Arbeau, will race the No. 71 car that won the 2019 Shur-Fit Auto Parts, Bumper to Bumper Street Stock championship with Chris Hanley at the wheel.
While deep in New Brunswick roots, the entry list also represents Prince Edward Island with Mitchell Arsenault, Nova Scotia with Marshall Bezanson and Patrick Horne and Maine with Bimbo Look.

In addition to the Ricky Bobby 150 presented by McCoy’s Auto Repair for the Shur-Fit Auto Parts, Bumper to Bumper Street Stocks, championship racing resumes in the three other house divisions at Speedway 660. The RE/MAX East Coast Elite Realty Pro Stocks, Late Model Sportsman and Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters all continue their quest for a season long championship this Saturday night as they scrap for every point and position they can with just a few races remaining in 2022.
The Ricky Bobby 150 presented by McCoy’s Auto Repair is run in honor of Rick Arbeau, known around Speedway 660 as Ricky Bobby. Arbeau was diagnosed with stage four small cell cancer and fought hard every day until his passing in 2019 prior to the start of the racing season. Arbeau was a fixture at the race track since its opening in 1994 and is dearly missed by all at Speedway 660.
For the sixth straight season, children aged 15 and under will be admitted to the grandstands for free to every stock car event at Speedway 660. The admission structure makes it easier for families to attend race events at the track and received positive feedback from fans when implemented mid-season in 2017.
Adult grandstand admission prices are $25 (aged 16 and up). Pit admission is $30 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. New in 2022, all those entering the pit gates must complete their insurance waiver online prior to heading to the track. This can be done on any smart phone and takes seconds to complete.
