NEW BRUNSWICK’S BEST RACE FOR 150-LAPS SATURDAY AT 660

(FREDERICTON, NB – July 14th, 2022) – Speedway 660 hosts another exciting Saturday night of racing that includes the return of the RE/MAX East Coast Elite Realty Pro Stocks. The popular Christmas in July will see several in house promotions including giveaways and a visit from Santa Claus, among others, on Saturday evening. On track, The Waterfront Pub Best of the Best 150 will thrill fans along with racing in the Late Model Sportsman, Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters and a mid-season visit by the Bandoleros. Racing begins at the Geary, New Brunswick oval on Saturday, July 16th at 6:30pm.

Fifteen drivers are on the entry list for Saturday’s Pro Stock headliner. This is the longest race for the class prior to the Pro Stock 250 on SpeedWeekend in September and will serve as an appetizer round to the Labour Day Weekend showcase. In three events so far this season at Speedway 660, Dave O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB) has won two, including both races on Riverview Ford Lincoln Season Opening Weekend. Wyatt Alexander (Ellsworth, ME) was the winner in June and is in control of the championship standings after O’Blenis broke in the last event. Dustin Tucker (Darling’s Island, NB) is second in points, just seven behind Alexander. O’Blenis, Ian Rasmussen (New Denmark, NB), Kevin Moore (Fredericton, NB) and Ryan Messer (Harvey, NB) find themselves locked into a tight top six battle with only 22 points between them after three events.

Alexandra O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB) padded her point lead in the Late Model Sportsman division last weekend with a feature win. The reigning track champion extended her lead to 11 over her younger sister Courtney O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB) and 18 over Richard Atkinson (Geary, NB), who was on the podium last week. Caleb Urquhart (Harvey, NB) leads the Rookie of the Year chase in the Late Model Sportsman division.

BJ Gillespie (Harvey, NB) once again proved why he is the reigning Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters Champion with a win in their biggest event of the year, the Gunslinger 50. Gillespie now sets his sights back on defending the crown after last week’s show point event. He enters Saturday’s regular distance feature with an 18 point advantage on Alex Gallant and a 20 point margin on Daniel Atyeo, who has two feature wins to his credit in 2022. Randy Titus and Mitchell Harvey complete the top five in points in this ultra-competitive Four Cylinder class.

The Bandolero class returns to Speedway 660 for the first time since May. This division features drivers from eight years old and up and is the stepping stone to the upper levels of the sport. Mandi Lee and Hudson Ruff are both Beginner competitors based in the Province and have both seen success throughout the region in their first season.

For the sixth straight season, children aged 15 and under will be admitted to the grandstands for free to every stock car event at Speedway 660. The admission structure makes it easier for families to attend race events at the track and received positive feedback from fans when implemented mid-season in 2017.

Adult grandstand admission prices are $25 (aged 16 and up). Pit admission is $30 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. New in 2022, all those entering the pit gates must complete their insurance waiver online prior to heading to the track. This can be done on any smart phone and takes seconds to complete. The link to the form can be found on Speedway660.com under the “Race Team Information” menu or by going to Speedway660.speedwaiver.com. A complete race day format will be available via the track’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/Speedway660.
