(June 19, 2016) On Saturday night Dave O’Blenis rattled off yet another win in big sportsman race at Speedway 660.  O’Blenis grabbed the lead with 20 laps to go and took the checkered flag in the Martins Home Heating 125.  We also had exciting street stock and pro stock action and invite you to check out our photo album from last weekend’s event.

Sportsman action 2016It was a great night for racing in the Geary Woods. After a full afternoon of practice, the Sportsman drivers opened the show with 15 lap qualifying heats for the 125. Sportsman action 2016Alexandra O’Blenis, last week’s sportsman feature winner, took a little spin on the backstretch in the first heat. That’s Hudson Weston in the 43. George Jamieson sportsman heat winner June 18, 2016George Jamieson was fast in practice and carried that speed over to the qualifying heat. George took heat number one in his MacLaughlin Roof Trusses Dodge.Sportsman action 2016Kenny MacKenzie Jr. was back in the Geary Woods on Saturday night. It was good to see the former bando driver and his family bring the 85 up from Salisbury to take a shot at the 125.Drew Greenlaw heat winner June 18, 2016When all was said and done, it was Drew Greenlaw, from Eastport, Maine, who collected the win in his Lisa MacIntosh Re/Max Group Four Realty Chevrolet.Darcy ONeil street stock heat winner June 18, 2016The street stocks were up next and Darcy O’Neil, from the Miramichi was the winner of the first heat race. Darcy was the fastest he’s been all season.  Street Stock action 2016Street stock heat number two saw Rick Cashol and Courtney O’Blenis battle it out. These two drivers have run a lot of laps side by side this year.Courtney OBlenis heat winner June 18, 2016This time Courtney grabbed the checkered flag and drove her machine into the Riverview Ford Victory Lane.Glyn Nott pro stock heat win June 18, 2016Glyn Nott fans were glad to see their favouritie driver get back to victory lane. Glyn picked up his first win of the season in Saturday night’s first pro stock heat race.Pro stock action 2016Big Kevin Moore (#88) has a nice little battle going with John Rankin in the second pro stock heat race. Both of these drivers were top five in points last year and hope to make a run for the pro stock championship in 2016.Dustin Tucker pro stock heat race winner June 18, 2016But it was Dustin Tucker who won that heat. Tucker has been getting better each time out in this race car. Could this be the night that he captures a podium finish in the Re/Max Group Four Realty 50 lap feature? street stock action 2016Here come the street stocks for their 30 lap feature. Roger Slocum leads O’Blenis and Cashol across the stripe in the early going.street stock action 2016Destiny Enkel (#52), last week’s feature winner, races in tight quarters with defending champion Rob Raynes and heat winner Darcy O’Neil. Courtney OBlenis street stock feature winner June 18, 2016 Courtney O’Blenis goes to victory lane with her second DMR Auto Sales Street Stock feature win of the year. Alexandra and Dave, the other two O’Blenis Motorsports drivers, celebrate with Courtney, before heading back to the pits to prepare for the big sportsman race.Rob Raynes street stock 2nd place feature june 18, 20016Rob Raynes, the defending street stock champ, continues his impressive streak of podium finishes. Rob came home second and continues to be a big threat to win back-to-back street stock crowns! _DSC8041Rookie Ryan Richard had his best street stock run ever, capturing third place in the 30 lap feature. Ryan drives for car owners David and Lee Goodine. His wife and new baby were also on hand for Ryan’s first ever podium. pro stock action 2016 Glyn Nott takes the early lead in the 50 lap pro stock feature, but Dustin Tucker is in hot pursuit!pro stock action 2016There was lots of great side by side action for the entire race!Matt Harris pro stock winner June 18, 2016The team from Fredericton Junction wins their first Re/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock feature of the season. Matt Harris is one of Speedway 660’s most loyal drivers. Matt started racing with us in year one, back in 94!John Rankin pro stock 2nd place feature June 18, 2016It’s another great point night for John Rankin. The Brad Silliker Motorsports Team driver finished second on Saturday night. John, a former sportsman champion, has been one of our most consistent pro stock drivers in 2016.Dustin Tucker 3rd place pro stock feature June 18, 2016Hard work and perseverance finally pays off for Dustin Tucker. Dustin brings the Tucker Racing Products car to an impressive third place finish. Brent RoyFlagman Tim Elliot congratulates Brent Roy, winner of the CRF Rookie Challenge Award. Roy finished fourth in Saturday night’s pro stock feature. Sportsman action 2016The Martins Home Heating Sportsman 125 goes green and in the early laps Drew Greenlaw is hooked up on the outside of Lonnie Sommerville (#27) and George Jamieson.Sportsman action 2016 Kenny MacKenzie Jr. races in tight quarters with Matt Rodgers and Jacob Logan. There were long stretches of green flag racing , with the third caution of the night only coming out on lap 100.sportsman action 2016Dave O’Blenis works his way around George Jamieson to gain another spot. O’Blenis, who won all three big sportsman races in 2015, is now closing in on the leaders.sportsman action 2016Greenlaw and Sommerville continue racing each other hard for the lead, while O’Blenis and Jamieson are right there too! sportsman action 2016O’Blenis is about to clear Sommerville and get after Greenlaw for the lead. It’s veteran vs. young gun and the laps are winding down.sportsman action 2016The pass gets made and the veteran takes the lead. With $2000 up for grabs in just a few more laps O’Blenis is anxious to take the 48 to the pay window!Dave OBlenis MHH 125 winnerAnd that’s exactly what happens. Richard Martin congratulates O’Blenis on the big win after Dave captures the Martins Home Heating Sportsman 125.Matt Rodgers 2nd place MHH 125 - 2016Matt Rodgers ends up second in the race for the second year in a row. Matt says his team will go back to the shop, continue working on the 42 and try to figure out how to beat O’Blenis when the Clark Chevrolet Firecracker 150 takes place on July 23rd. George jamieson 3rd place MHH 125 - 2016It was a great night for George Jamieson. The veteran driver’s Dodge Charger was solid for the entire race and George drove her home in third place.MHH 125 podium 2016Dave O’Blenis never gets tired of standing in the middle of these big sportsman race podium photos.  He’ll get another chance in a little over a month. Meanwhile Matt Rodgers, George Jamieson and the other sportsman drivers will have to hang tight before getting another shot at O’Blenis.
