Tucker makes late move to take Parts for Trucks 100!

Fredericton, NB – After watching Speedway 660 point’s leader Greg Fahey of St. Stephen lead the first 84 laps of the Parts for Trucks 100, Fredericton’s Shawn Tucker’s No. 52 car was good enough on the outside on the lap 83 restart to overtake Fahey en route to his first checkered flag of the Parts for Trucks Maritime Pro Stock Tour.

Starting ninth, Tucker moved quickly, but patiently to the front of the field. He was up to seventh by lap four, sixth by lap eight, and in the top five by lap 14.

Tucker continued his push towards the front, passing Maritime Pro Stock Tour point’s leader going into the race, Wayne Smith on lap 17 for fourth. He moved into third on lap 30 and by lap 48 he was directly behind Fahey.

The final 52 laps turned into a constant battle for first, with the caution on lap 83 bringing an end to Fahey’s dominance on the day.

Rounding off the podium was Darren MacKinnon of Charlottetown, PE. Speedway 660 regular, Dave O’Blenis from Boundary Creek finished fourth with Wayne Smith of Timberlea rounding out the top five.

The only other Speedway 660 pro stock driver that ran this week was Steve Halpin of Saint John, who finished 17th.

In the RV World street stock division Rob Pethick of Nackawic took the lead on lap 14 from Rodney Ness of Hanwell, holding on for the final six laps en route to his first win in his Speedway 660 career.

Point’s leader Benji Ruff of Carlow finished second with Ness rounding out the top three.

In the Martin’s Home Heating sportsman division Shawn Hyslop of St. Stephen picked up his first sportsman division win leading every lap of the 30 lap feature. Current points leader and defending champion Ken MacKenzie of Salisbury made the podium for the first time this season, finishing second. Brent Roy of Fredericton finished third to cap off the top three.
