Cummins 150 at 2PM Today
(July 2nd, 2017) The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour race is happening today. The weather is clearing in Fredericton and qualifying for the Cummins 150 begins at 2PM.
Tour drivers, from all over the Atlantic Canada, will head to Geary for the race. Fans will also be entertained by the DMR Auto Sales Street Stocks and Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters. Racing begins Saturday at 6:30PM.
Shawn Turple has won two of the first four Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour races this season and has finished second and sixth in the other two. Dylan Blenkhorn has a win, a second and two thirds and that gives him an eight point advantage over Turple in the standings. Cassius Clark won the latest tour race last weekend in Halifax.
“It sure was great to start the season off with those two big wins at Scotia and Petty because we hadn’t been to victory lane in a tour race since July of 2014 when we won at Speedway 660” said Turple. “We like racing in the Geary Woods and need another good run up there this weekend because Dylan has been on the podium for all four races and he’s the point leader everybody else is chasing.”Shawn Turple was pretty excited when he climbed out of his car after winning the 2014 Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour race at Speedway 660. Turple didn’t win on the tour again, until going to victory lane in the first two races of this season.
Dylan Gosbee is currently third in the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour point parade while Cole Butcher and Greg Proude round out the top five. Rookie Jarrett Butcher, Craig Slaunwhite, Darren MacKinnon, Kent Vincent and rookie Nicholas Naugle run sixth through tenth in points. Proude won the tour race last year at Speedway 660, while Cole Butcher went to the Riverview Ford Victory Lane in 2015.
“We’ve had some pretty good runs at 660, but we’ve never been able to win there so it would be nice to finally get it done this Saturday on Canada Day in the Cummins 150” said Blenkhorn. “It’s a tough track and Proude, Butcher, Slaunwhite, Turple, Gosbee and Clark are all good there, so our team will have to be on top of its game to get the result we want.”Dylan Blenkhorn’s best finish at a tour race at Speedway 660 was in 2015 when he was runner-up to Cole Butcher. Blenkhorn comes into this weekend leading the points and would love to get his first ever win in the Geary Woods.
Adult ticket prices for the Cummins 150 are $25; Youth tickets, for kids between 13 and 15 years of age are $15 and; admission is always free for fans twelve and under. Pit passes for fans 16 and over are $5,
