Sharp Shooter 50 Photo Album
(June 12, 2017) It sure was nice to get out to Speedway 660 on Saturday for our first night race of the 2017 season. The Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter 50 was the feature attraction, but fans also saw incredible Street Stock, Sportsman and Pro Stock racing. We invite you to check out our photo album from last Saturday night.
We started the night off with the RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock heat races. Ashton Tucker (#32), the 2016 Rookie of the Year, has a great battle with five-time champ Dave O’Blenis. The former Bandolero champ picks up the heat race win and gains a little confidence heading into the Pro Stock feature.Sarah McKay, in a different coloured 32, takes top spot in the second Pro Stock heat. Big Kevin Moore has been strong early in 2017. On Saturday night he drove the 88 to victory in the 3rd Pro Stock heat race. The DMR Auto Sales Street Stock roll out next and Riley Goodwin drives a wedge between Noah Gillespie and Roger Slocum.Young Riley had the crowd buzzing with his dare-devil racing tactics. The 2016 Street Stock Rookie of the Year went from 3rd to 1st after this great move! Riley’s incredible pass resulted in a trip to victory lane in the first Street Stock heat race.Chris Hanley has been really good early in 2017. The St. Stephen driver took top honours in the second Street Stock heat race. John Rankin takes care of business in the first Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman heat. The former Sportsman champ goes low to take the spot away from George Jamieson on his way to the checkered flag.Justin Cole, racing out of Harvey, grabs the victory in the second Sportsman heat race. Justin has struggled a little early in the 2017 season, but this victory just might be what he needs to get things going.Matt Martin makes his first Speedway 660 appearance of 2017 a good one. Martin grabs the checkers in the first Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter heat race. Lean on Me! The Sharp Shooters always provide some exciting action as displayed in their second heat race.Dust in the Wind! This little tango creates a bit of a dust-up.Kyle MacKinnon avoided the dust, stayed out of trouble and claimed victory in the second Sharp Shooter heat race.Ashton Tucker caps off a great night of racing by winning his first-ever RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock feature. Young Ashton was brilliant behind the wheel, especially on a couple of key restarts late in the race.Brent Roy had a pretty good night too. The Camry Kid (the one holding the baby) finished second in the Pro Stock feature for his second podium in three starts this season.Ryan Messer and his Mom & Dad celebrate a third place finish. BTW this was Ryan’s first podium in a Pro Stock – the first of many to come! Speedway 660 has brought back the Kid’s Club Ride for 2017. Andre LaHaye takes his daughter for a little spin during intermission. The Street Stock feature gets a little wild & crazy. Matt Crocker spins out, while Roger Slocum and Riley Goodwin avoid getting tangled up with the double zero!A lap or two later Riley wasn’t as fortunate and ended up on his roof down the backstretch. Young Goodwin was OK, but the 77 suffered significant damage and was done for the night. When all was said and done Luc McLaughlin rolled into the Riverview Ford Victory Lane. It was Luc’s second DMR Auto Sales Street Stock feature win of the season!Shawn Hyslop is making a habit of finishing on the podium this season. Shawn drove home second which made everyone from Beautiful Charlotte County pretty pleased. Roger Slocum came home third on Saturday night and decided to have his picture taken on the “good side” of the car. The other side of the 15 got mangled a bit during our “Old-School” feature. The Last Tango in Geary! Our Sportsman feature was rolling along nicely until this little dance broke out down in turn one!John Rankin was strong on Saturday night and drove the 28 to a convincing win in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 40 lap feature.Justin Cole finishes second to pick up his first podium of 2017. Hey what’s with all the babies? Didn’t we see Shawn Hyslop and Brent Roy both holding new babies earlier in this photo album? Jacob Logan is all smiles after a third place finish in the Sportsman feature. After winning his first-ever feature last time out, Jacob started at the back and patiently worked his way toward the front, missing the big wreck. A podium finish was huge for this championship contender. The Sharp Shooter 50 lapper was pretty exciting. Kyle McKinnon was in control of the race until a late charge by Brodie Levesque made for an exciting finish. In the end it was Kyle who went to victory lane. McKinnon has won two of three Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter features this season.Brodie Levesque drove home in second place Saturday night. It’s Brodie’s third straight podium. He has a second and two third place finishes and it probably won’t be long before this kid ends up in victory lane. Matt Martin was ecstatic after a third place finish in the Sharp Shooter 50. It was Matt’s first outing of the season and that strong result made everyone in the Martin clan happy!
