Mercer Duo Wins Enduro 200

Last Updated: July 18, 2010By

July 17, 2010-Saturday night was the start of the season for the 2010 Enduro Drivers with the first Enduro 200 of the year.   Seventeen cars took to the track with something to prove.   The night turned out to be one of the most exciting Enduro’s in recent years with a variety of big wrecks and crashes.  In the end it was the #2 car of Jeff and Chuck Mercer taking home the checkered flag in front of the #86 of Andrew Betts and the #18 of Nathan Gallant.   Rounding out the top 5 was the reigning Enduro champion Pat Sharpe and the #44 of Brody Seveck in 5th spot.   In addition to this Rheal Kenny took home the hard luck driver award for the night.

Speedway 660 also introduced the front wheel drive/4cyl Enduro on this night.  Two drivers made it to the Geary woods with the #89 of Mike Edwards taking home the checkered flag.

The final event of the night was a new event for speedway fans, the “Run em’ Dry” event which saw 7 entries vying for a first place finish.  The event was a fun event where the cars were drained of all fluids, including oil, antifreeze and water.  Once they were drained of fluids they hit the track and the last man standing was the winner.   Several of the entries broke down early in the event but the #77 of Mike McCutcheon and the #660 of Tim Rice lasted nearly 70 laps.   Rice in the Speedway 660 car won the event by outlasting the 77.
