Shake, Rattle and Roll! – Wades Weekly #8

Last Updated: July 13, 2010By

There’s something special happening this weekend that is guaranteed to shake things up at Speedway 660. Our first Enduro of 2010 goes Saturday night at seven. It’s always exciting and always draws a great crowd to see the unique action only the Enduro’s can deliver.

There is no limit to the number of Enduro participants and as the old saying goes: “The more the merrier”. The call has gone out once again for the smaller Enduro’s and we are anxious to see how many “four-bangers” show up. We also have our first ever Run-em-Dry event. People can bring any rig they want, drain the crank case and radiator and see who can run the longest. There is absolutely no contact allowed among the vehicles, but if you like to hear engines clang, rattle, break, seize and go up in smoke, you will want to check this out.

The First Jewel
Speedway 660 works closely with Atlantic Canada’s two other major stock car racing facilities and the Carquest Pro Stock Tour to present the Triple Crown. It’s a three race series which reaches its climax on SPEEDWEEKEND, at Speedway 660, with our 250.

So, this weekend some of our fans as well as many of our pro stock and sportsman teams are headed to Nova Scotia. They will be spending the weekend with our good friends at Riverside Speedway, near Antigonish. On Friday night the Highland Building Supplies Sportsman 100 will take the green flag and on Saturday it’s the IWK Pro Stock 250.

Later this summer the second Crown Jewel goes at Scotia Speedway near Halifax. The Atlantic Cat 250 is scheduled for August 7th.

Rain Drops Keep Fallin On My Head!
We all know we needed a bit of rain last week, but hated to see it fall all weekend. Our season is short enough as it is and it pains race fans and their favourite teams to lose a weekend of racing. In June, the DQ Kids Day was washed out and this past weekend, we lost the MAX 1 Advanced Synthetic Pro Stock 150. At a couple of recent events we also had rain delays, but were able to dry things out and complete our racing.

Kids Day has been folded into the event on August 21st and Speedway 660 officials are still working out details to reschedule the 150 from last weekend. One thing is for certain, we can’t control the weather, however here’s hoping it stops raining on our 2010 race day parade.

Have Some Fun
If you like paint tradin, tire howlin, dust-ups, smoke and the odd barrel roll you had better join us on Saturday night. Enduro events are a different beast and over the years have developed a strong fan base.

If you are headed to Riverside for the IWK 250 this weekend have fun and drive carefully. Good luck to all of our sportsman and pro stock race teams. If you are coming to Speedway 660 for our first Enduro of the year, hold onto your hats and keep your eyes wide open because you never know what’s going to happen!
