(August 4th, 2016) Tonight’s races at Speedway 660 have been cancelled because of a weather forecast which is calling for showers and potential lightning strikes. There is no rain date for this event.

Racing resumes on Saturday night in the Geary Woods with a weekly championship points event. After taking the long holiday weekend off, Speedway 660 is gearing up for an exciting month of action. It begins this Saturday night at 6:30PM with action in the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter, DMR Auto Sales Street Stock, Martins Home Heating Sportsman and Re/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock divisions.

“With four straight weeks of point racing ahead of us, we’ve got to be at the top of our game every time out to have a chance to win the championship” said Kevin Moore, the current pro stock point leader. “We gave it a good shot last season but had to settle for second, so we’re really motivated to have a great month and give ourselves a chance to do something special at the Night of Champions on the last Saturday in August.”Kevin Moore 3rd pro stock feature July 9, 2016Big Kevin Moore and his racing team are having a great season, but they’ll have to keep going strong in August to earn their first-ever pro stock championship.

Heading into action this weekend Moore has a slim seven point advantage over three time Re/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock champion Greg Fahey. John Rankin and Matt Harris are also in the championship hunt. Ryan Messer leads the Martins Home Heating Sportsman Division, but Drew Greenlaw and George Jamieson are within striking distance.

“Ryan is great driver and he’s having an awesome season, but we’ve been pretty consistent too and George is a veteran who is hungry to win his first title” said Greenlaw. “It’s going to be a real battle and who-ever has the best month of August will be the one who earns the championship trophy on August 27th.”Drew Greenlaw 3rd place sportsman feature June 11, 2016Drew Greenlaw has been very good in 2016, but he knows he’ll have to have a great month to overtake Ryan Messer and win the sportsman crown.

Robert Raynes leads the DMR Auto Sales Street Stock points, but Courtney O’Blenis has been staying right with the defending champion all season long. Kyle MacKinnon and Kyle Boudreau are battling it out at the top of the leader board in the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter Division.

Adult ticket prices for Saturday’s event are $14, Youth tickets (13 to 15 years of age) are $10 and pit passes are $2. The Family Pass, which includes tickets for two adults and two youths, is $38. Children 12 and under are admitted free.
