One of the season’s BEST races is tonight!
The McLaughlin Roof Trusses Best of the Best 150 is one of Atlantic Canada’s most important short-track stock car races and it’s up tonight at Speedway 660. Racing begins at 6:30PM this evening and fans will be on the edge of their seats as the Re/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock Division drivers take on visiting drivers from across the Maritimes and New England.
“There’s a lot on the line in the Best of the Best 150 with the winner and runner up guaranteed automatic provisional starting positions in the Irving Blending & Packaging 250 on SpeedWeekend” said five-time Speedway 660 champion Greg Fahey. “Winning this race last year was huge for us and we’re going to get after it again, but it won’t be easy because we’ve got some awesome weekly pro stock competition here at 660 and we’ll see some pretty good teams roll in from around the Maritimes and the States.”
Greg Fahey celebrates with his racing team after winning the Best of the Best 150 last year. It was a double sweet win, because Greg’s major sponsor, MacLaughlin Roof Trusses, also sponsors the Best of the Best.
Twenty-two pro stocks started the Best of the Best 150 a year ago, but Speedway 660 officials think that number could be higher when the race goes green on Saturday night. Fahey, from St. Stephen, New Brunswick and Cassius Clark, from Farmington, Maine finished first and second last year. Clark ended up winning the 250 on SpeedWeekend, taking home more than thirty thousand dollars! Clark will be among at least three Americans headed to Speedway 660 on the weekend. Ben Rowe and Kirk Thibeau have also made plans to head north on Saturday. After a second place Best of the Best 150 finish last year, Cassius Clark qualified for the Irving Blending & Packaging 250. He won the 250 and cashed a pretty big checque!
“I obviously love coming to Speedway 660 because the competition is incredible, you get great crowds and we’ve had some pretty big paydays up there” said Clark. “The Best of the Best 150 gives drivers a chance to punch their ticket to the big race in September and it’s also a chance for us visitors to prepare for the 250 by getting some seat time on this tough little track.”
Race fans will also see the Martin`s Home Heating Sportsman and Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters on Saturday night. Adult ticket prices are $25; Youth tickets, for kids between 8 and 16 years of age are $15 and; admission is always free for fans seven and under. Pit passes for fans 16 and over are $5.

Cassius and Ben both have confirmed they’ll be here this weekend. Kirk Thibeau is also coming and there could also be another American or two.
A double header weekend is coming right up at Speedway 660.
