The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Photo Album
(July 5, 2015) Race fans were treated to one of the best nights of racing of the year on Saturday night. The Cummins 100, the main event of the night, was one of the quickest Maritime Pro Stock Tour races we have ever seen. The Street Stock and Sportsman feature races were pretty darned good too! We invite you to check out Michelle Roy’s photos from Saturday night.

We always look forward to the annual visit by the Pro Stock Tour. Its a great opportunity for Speedway 660 staff to work closely with Tour officials and for our fans to see some awesome racing. Before the races begin RE/MAX Group Four Realty agent Lisa MacIntosh gets busy selling 50-50 tickets. We always have one lucky winner, but the other half goes to the RE/MAX Relay for Life charity.Cole Butcher, one of the bright young tour stars, gets a few quick laps in during practice. Cole, who had one tour win heading into weekend action, knows Speedway 660 is the toughest track in the Maritimes. Greg Proude, from Springvale PEI, makes a fast trip around the Geary oval to win the Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials. The Luck of the Draw goes to Dylan Blenkhorn, who chooses number one for the pole position in the King Freight Line Dash. Dylan looks pretty serious in his interview with Tim Terry.Dylan wins the Dash and the young Truro driver, who held the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock point lead heading into the weekend, will start on the pole for the Cummins 100.The first DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock heat race goes to Rick Cashol. The five time champion has been struggling a little in 2015, so his first checkered flag of the season has got to make him feel a little better. The second Street Stock heat was stacked with talent and provided our fans with some great action. Rob Raynes (#41) worked his way through the field to win the race.Dave OBlenis takes his Irving Oil Blending & Packaging machine to the Riverview Ford Victory Lane in the first Sportsman heat.Rookie Ryan Messer gets up on the wheel in the second Sportsman heat and parks his machine in the Riverview Ford Victory Lane. The kid, who won the Atlantic Modified Tour Title in 2014, is making a smooth transition into our Sportsman division.Dylan Gosbee (#91) gets to the stripe to win the first Dartmouth Dodge Pro Stock Heat race. Gosbee would have a good starting position in the Cummins 100. Donald Chisholm (#89) wins the second Pro Stock heat race. Chisholm had a fast car and is looking for a big night once the Cummins 100 goes green. The 30 lap Street Stock feature gets off to a blazing start with Eric Matthews (#60) kicking up some dust on the front stretch and spinning out in front of the field. The Street Stock dust-up continued all the way down into turn one, before an unhappy ending for a couple of competitors! When the cars rolled to a stop and the dust cleared we had one of just a handful of caution flags on the night. Matthews and “Rocket” Rodney Ness, in the red car, were done like dinner! Everyone appreciates the work Dunphy’s Towing does at Speedway 660, but no-one wants to be on the end of the hook being escorted back to the pits! When racing resumed we saw some incredible action and for awhile it looked like Ricky might win his first feature of the year. But he had some fast cars hunting him down as the laps went away.In the end Geoff Tugwell and his family celebrate the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock win. The Smithtown driver has won a couple of features this year and is a championship contender.Just another day at the office for Robert Raynes! Rob finishes second to continue his season-long streak of Street Stock podium finishes. (PS: come back to our website later this week for a Conversation with Rob Raynes)Courtney O’Blenis is all smiles after bringing the 48 home to a solid third place finish. The youngest member of Team O’Blenis is having a break-out season at Speedway 660!The action gets intense during the Sportsman feature! Our largest crowd of the year has lots to cheer about as a couple of youngsters duke it out for the win.Obviously inspired and motivated by her little sister’s great run in Street Stock, Alexandra O’Blenis gets it done in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman feature. Alex, who in 2014 became the first lady ever to win a Sportsman feature at Speedway 660, gets her first of 2015 in fine fashion! Ryan Messer celebrates an impressive second place Sportsman feature finish with Mom and Dad. This former Bando champ is one of the leading contenders for Rookie of the Year. But we’ve got six Sportsman rookies, so Ryan has got some work to do.For the second week in a row Richard Atkinson, his wife Heather and the entire race team get to celebrate a podium finish in our tough Sportsman division.Drivers, race teams, officials and fans anticipate what’s to come in the Cummins 100, during driver introductions.Let’s add a little air to that right rear! Dylan Blenkhorn, the pole sitter and two-time Parts for Trucks Pro Stock winner in 2015, is just about ready to go racin!Get that helmet on and pull those straps tight cause it’s almost time to give the great Speedway 660 fans what they came to see!Comin to green – things are about to pick-up in the Geary Woods as the Cummins 100 gets underway. The racin is tight, the action is fast and the cautions are few and far between. What a recipe for an incredible race. Blenkhorn and Darren MacKinnon (#18) get after it in the early going. These two put on some show!Don’t look now, but here come Cole Butcher! First he takes the high side and gets around Greg Proude. Then he dives down low to set up Darren MacKinnon. Butcher continues his hot pursuit of Dylan Blenkhorn!Cole continues to close quickly, the laps are winding down and the winner is going to be……Cole Butcher! The kid from Porter’s Lake Nova Scotia takes the checkered flag for the second time in six Parts for Truck Pr Stock Tour races. Congrats Cole that was a heck of a run!Dylan, who also has won two Tour races in 2015, picks up his 2nd second place finish of the year! The fine folks from Cummins hand over the third place trophy to Darren MacKinnon. The Island Boy had another strong run and is happy to leave Speedway 660 on the podium. Being on the podium with your racin buddies and the event marketing partners is always a nice way to end your evening. Speedway 660 thanks the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour, race sponsor Cummins and our great fans for an awesome night in the Geary Woods!
Thanks for checking out Michelle Roy’s Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Photo Album. Next weekend we’ve got another big night of racing featuring the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock 75.
We’ll see you at the races!
