Maritime Tour coming to 660
The Parts for Trucks Maritime Pro Stock Tour makes its annual visit to the Geary Woods this weekend. Tour drivers, from all over the region, will go head to head in the Cummins 100. Racing begins Saturday at 6:30PM.
It only happens once a year!
“The tour visit is always a highlight of our season and fans have come to expect this event to produce some of the best racing of the year” said Speedway 660`s Max Roy. “There’s been a resurgence of Pro Stock racing here at Speedway 660 as well as on the Tour this year and that means the Cummins 100 will provide our fans with another incredible night of racing.”Darren MacKinnon won the Linde 100 last weekend in Petty. Dylan Blenkhorn and Craig Slaunwhite were 2nd and 3rd. These three guys will be among the favourites heading into the Cummins 100 this weekend.
Nova Scotia drivers have won four of five Tour races in 2015. Truro`s Dylan Blenkhorn won the first two, while George Kozkhulics, from New Glasgow and Cole Butcher, from Porter`s Lake took the next two. Last weekend’s winner was Darren McKinnon, from Milton Station, Prince Edward Island. Shawn Turple won last year`s race at Speedway 660 and is looking forward to returning to the Geary Woods.
“We always like racing in front of the great fans at 660 and I am excited to head back up there this weekend to try to get another big win” said Turple. “Last year was our first win there since 2008, so I`m hoping to have another great night to give us a surge in the point standings.”Shawn Turple and his team were pretty happy after winning the 2014 Tour race in the Geary Woods.
After five Tour races Turple currently sits fifth, just 52 behind Blenkhorn the points leader. Chisholm, MacKinnon, Butcher are second, third and fourth in points, while defending champion John Flemming sits 10th, less than a hundred points behind Blenkhorn. Sarah McKay, a former Speedway 660 Sportsman Rookie of the Year, is 12th on the Tour standings.
Adult ticket prices are $25; Youth tickets, for kids between 8 and 16 years of age are $15 and; admission is always free for fans seven and under. Pit passes for fans 16 and over are $5.
The Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials get underway at 5:40PM, followed by the Pro Stock Dash Draw. Racing gets underway at 6:30PM. Fans will also see the Martin’s Home Heat and DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock drivers on Saturday night.

Coming up on Saturday, July 11th, Speedway 660 will run its longest Street Stock race of the season. The DMR Auto Sales 75 will highlight action that will also include the Re/Max Pro Stocks, Martin`s Home Heating Sportsman, Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters and West Wood Estates Bandolero division drivers.
