CREAMER CAPITALIZES FOR SPEEDWEEKEND SPORTSMAN VICTORY!
Brady Creamer (#10) scored a long awaited Speedweekend Sportsman victory on Saturday night by surviving a wild Riverview Ford Sportsman 150 through several late restarts to park it in victory lane. One of the best editions of the Speedweekend Riverview Ford Sportsman 150 saw over 140 laps of clean racing with only minimal cautions, before chaos erupted on late race restarts. When the dust settled, rookie driver Caleb Urquhart (#11) pushed through the pack to earn a milestone runner-up finish, while Chris Reid (#8) went from fifth to third on the final lap to round out the podium. Matt Rodgers (#42) slid across the line in fourth ahead of Alexandra O’Blenis in fifth.
The instant classic started with Wyatt Alexander (#23), driving for an ill Drew Greenlaw, leading the way in the early laps. He exchanged the lead with Alexandra O’Blenis until Creamer took the lead for the first time on a lap 34 restart. The trio of Creamer, Alexander, and O’Blenis continued to chase each other until Alexandra got tagged by a lapped car going for a spin. The race went into halfway with Creamer showing the way.
The second half would be the Alexander and Creamer show once again, with the two putting on a show for the lead while O’Blenis methodically worked his way through the field. The chaos began to unfold with 13 laps to go when Curtis Collins (#27) ended up in the beach. Cautions bred cautions with a wreck a few laps later between Courtney O’Blenis (#48) and Chris Reid. Another yellow with 3 laps to go set up a mad dash – and the next restart changed the race with Alexander getting spun in front of the field with several cars piling in. Creamer would assume the lead at this time with three to go. Additional yellows saw a wreck between Richard Atkinson and Michael Cormier (#68), and Curtis Collins and Luc Bourgeois (#88) forced extra attempts to settle the race.
Heat races were won by Wyatt Alexander, Alexandra O’Blenis, and Curtis Collins. Twenty-one Sportsman cars were in attendance. The Riverview Ford Sportsman 100 took just over 2 hours to complete.
The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends put on a clean feature in the CYV Chevrolet 40, with Danny Chisholm (#87) driving through lapped traffic to take the win over Owen Mahar (#66) and Gage Gilby (#25). Race leaders had to put in the work to pass lapped traffic in a incredible show. Nineteen Legends started the race. Official results will be published by the Maritime League of Legends Tour.
After technical inspection, Matt Watson (#27) was awarded the win in the Pub’s Drive-Thru Bottle Exchange 50 for the Passione Interiors and Flooring East Coast Mini Stock Tour. Quick results have Neil Miousse (#71) taking second in his return to the track he got his start at, with Dave Matthews (#99) surviving late mechanical issues to claim the final podium position. Official results will be published by East Coast Mini Stock Tour. Seventeen drivers partook in the Pub’s Drive-Thru Bottle Exchange 50.
The first leg of the annual Bandolero Blast went to Ayden Christensen (#24), after he and Dawson Noble (#8) exchanged many cross overs in a stellar show. Noble would cross the line in second while Landon Pierce (#19) rounded out the podium. Nine cars were in attendance.
The final day of Speedweekend 2022 is on tap for Sunday September 4th, 2022.
