Five drivers will run the Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 150 and Re/Max 250 on SpeedWeekend. Two of them have done it before, but three others will go racing twice on SpeedWeekend for the first time.

Lonnie Sommerville and Dave O’Blenis are no strangers to running both big SpeedWeekend races. But this year Dylan Gosbee, Greg Fahey and Sarah McKay have decided if two former Re/Max 250 winners can run both races, so can they.

“I’m a racer and the hardest thing for me to do on SpeedWeekend is to sit in the stands on Saturday night and watch the Sportsman race” said Sommerville. “I’ll be a lot more comfortable lining up against the best Sportsman drivers in Atlantic Canada, runnin hard for 150 laps and trying to put my car in the Riverview Ford Victory Lane.”

Lonnie Sommerville knows how to get it done at Speedway 660. Lonnie won the Re/Max 250 in 06 & 09  and last year he was 3rd in the Sportsman race and 5th in the Pro Stock race on SpeedWeekend.

“The last time I ran the Sportsman car my daughter Alexandra beat me and I haven’t heard the end of it, so I’ve got to be on the top of my game to try to finish ahead of her and the other great drivers in the Saturday race” said O’Blenis. “Double duty is a hard deal, but I love to race and SpeedWeekend is the biggest event of the year, so I’ll be running as hard as I can in the Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 150 and Re/Max 250.”

Dave O’Blenis just wrapped his third straight Speedway 660 Pro Stock championship last weekend. A year ago at SpeedWeekend he finished 2nd in the Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 150 and 4th in the Re/Max 250.

Dylan Gosbee has been to Victory Lane before but not at Speedway 660. After finishing 10th in the 2013 Re/Max 250, the young Islander decided he would run both big races this year.

Sarah McKay won our Martin’s Home Heating Rookie of the Year Award in 2013. This year she is a rookie on the MPST and finished 9th in their race here and 13th in our PASS event. Sarah is comfortable in both the Sportsman and Pro Stock cars and is looking forward to running both races this weekend.

Last year Greg Fahey won the Speedway 660 Sportsman title. He became the first driver to win championships in all three of our top divisions (3 Pro Stock – 2 Street Stock – 1 Sportsman). The “Pride of Charlotte County” is excited to run both Saturday and Sunday SpeedWeekend events.
