Standing Down in the Geary Woods
Speedway 660 will be unusually quiet from now until Saturday, August 9th. Fans, race teams and employees have the long weekend off before launching into a very intense month of August at Atlantic Canada’s busiest racing facility.
“Everyone loves racing, but the long weekend in August gives our fans, race teams, marketing partners, volunteers and employees a well deserved break before a busy stretch run” said Speedway 660’s Max Roy. “We hope everyone has a great weekend and gets rested up for what will be a very busy and exciting month of August here at Speedway 660.”
Speedway 660 picks up the pace right after the long holiday weekend. On Saturday, August 9th at 7PM the Sportsman Firecracker 150 highlights action. Bando, Sharp Shooter and Street Stock drivers will also be part of the show.
Dave O’Blenis celebrates the 2013 Firecracker 150 victory. On August 9th, we’ll find out who goes to the Riverview Ford Victory Lane in the 2014 version of this great race.
On Saturday, August 16th at 7PM, the popular Fan Appreciation Night will treat fans to racing in all five divisions. Then on Saturday, August 23rd it’s the Night of Champions. Drivers in every division will have one last chance to compete for 2014 titles and rookie of the year awards.
The 2014 racing season at Speedway 660 wraps up with SpeedWeekend. It starts with the Harvey’s Family Corn Boil on Friday, August 29th. The Irving Blending & Packaging Sportsman 150 is on Saturday, August 30th, then it’s the Pro Stock 250 on Sunday, August 31st and the Enduro 200 on September 1st.
Twenty-eight of the best drivers in eastern North America will qualify for Speedway 660’s Pro Stock 250 on SpeedWeekend.
“The Firecracker 150, Fan Appreciation Night, the Night of Champions and SpeedWeekend are going to provide fans with an exciting finish to the 2014 racing season” said Roy. “That’s four intense weekends down in the Geary Woods that will culminate with SpeedWeekend 2014, the biggest weekend of racing in Atlantic Canada.”
Fans will be treated to the most intense racing of the season during the month of August. It all wraps up with SpeedWeekend 2014.
Race fans are encouraged to make plans well in advance for SpeedWeekend 2014. The number of camp sites at Speedway 660 is limited and anyone who wants to camp should reserve a site as soon as possible. Advance tickets for SpeedWeekend are also available.
