Big Pro & Street Stock Show
Race fans always get excited about the Best of the Best Pro Stock 150, but this year there is more to get excited about. That’s because in addition to one of the biggest Pro Stock races of the year, Speedway 660 fans will also see the Street Stock 50 on Saturday night.
“The Best of the Best 150 is one of our signature events and we’re expecting our weekly Re/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock drivers to face stiff competition from visiting race teams” said Speedway 660’s Max Roy. “We’re expecting a good car count because the PASS and Parts for Trucks tours are off this weekend, plus there’s an added incentive because the winner earns a provisional starting position in our big 250 on SpeedWeekend.”Best of the Best action was great in 2013. Dave O’Blenis (#48) ended up winning the race and getting the SpeedWeekend Pro Stock 250 provisional. We’ll have to wait until this Saturday night to find out who the Best of the Best in 2014 will be!
Race fans will also be treated to the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock 50. The Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division drivers will also be racing. Racing gets underway at 7 o’clock on Saturday evening and all three divisions will be running for championship points.
“Our street stock drivers have been anxiously waiting to run their 50 lap feature and they’ll finally get their chance this weekend” said Roy. “After a few early season rain-outs we revised the schedule and combined the Best of the Best 150 and Street Stock 50, so it’ll be some show.”The action will be intense when drivers take the green flag in the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock 50.
Adult ticket prices are $25; Youth tickets, for kids between 8 and 15 are $15; the family Pass for two adults and two youths is $65 and; admission is free for Speedway 660’s youngest race fans, seven and under. Pit passes for this event are $2.
The rain date for the Best of the Best 150 is Sunday at 2PM. If the weather is unsettled on Saturday, fans and race team members should call the Speedway 660 race line at 506-454-7223 or visit www.Speedway660.com for race day status updates.
This is the last racing event before Speedway 660 takes its traditional break for the long weekend in August. Racing resumes on Saturday, August 9th with the Sportsman Firecracker 150. Bandolero, Sharp Shooter and Street Stock divisions will also be in action.
Speedway 660 is one of Canada’s premier stock car racing facilities. Located in New Brunswick’s Fredericton region, it attracts race teams and fans from the Maritimes, Maine and Quebec. The Speedway 660 racing season runs from mid May until Labour Day Weekend. SpeedWeekend 2014, one of the most prestigious short track events in eastern North America, is always a fitting way to wrap up Speedway 660’s racing season.
