The Sunday Photo Album: July 13th
Speedway 660 was a busy spot Saturday night. The Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour came to visit, plus there was action in four other divisions. We invite you to check out Michelle Roy’s photos from a very exciting Saturday night in the Geary Woods!
Ashton Tucker (#32) wins the first Bando heat of the evening after a tough little battle with Kyle Orr!
MacKenzie Brewer (#55) gets off to a great start to his night by outracing Courtney O’Blenis in the second Bando heat race.
Another race, another win for Matt Crocker in the first Sharp Shooter heat. That’s three in a row since Matt came out to race with us a couple of weeks ago.
Brody Levesque, from Lincoln, crosses the stripe first to take the second Sharp Shooter heat race.
Dylan Blenkhorn wins his fourth Atlantic Tiltload Time Trials of the season. The kid from Truro would try for his third straight Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour win in a row later in the evening.
John Flemming (#97) wins the King Freight Dash for Cash. John, who led the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour Point Parade heading into Saturday night, was looking for his first feature win of the year.
Chuck Morton takes home the checkered flag in the first Street Stock heat race of the evening.
Heidi Cooper leads the second Street Stock heat, but Geoff Tugwell (#29) would pass Heidi to take the victory.
Jason Shannon (#16) takes the early lead in the first Sportsman heat. The veteran from Hoyt would hold on for the win in his return to the Geary Woods after overcoming motor issues that sidelined him for a couple of weeks.
Dawson McIntee makes another trip to the Riverview Ford Victory Lane. Dawson, an impressive rookie of the year contender, wins the second Sportsman heat.
Shawn Turple (#0) and Darren McKinnon battle it out in the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour heat race. Darren is just about to make an impressive inside pass to take the win.
Dave O’Blenis (#48) makes a move on Matt Harris to take the lead and then roll on to victory in the next Pro Stock heat race.
MacKenzie Brewer was the happiest boy in the Geary Woods on Saturday night. That’s because he finally got his first-ever Westwood Estate Apartments Bandolero feature win. Looks good on you MacKenzie!
Courtney O’Blenis has reason to flash that big smile after an impressive second place finish in the Bando feature. A couple of more laps and she just might have had something for young Brewer!
Cory Hall just keeps rolling along at Speedway 660. Cory grabs a third place in the Bando feature on Saturday night. He’s got two feature wins so far this year and is right in the thick of things in the point standings!
Sharp Shooter feature action sees Courtney Barton (#21) and Neil Miousse headed the wrong way down a one-way street!
Matt Crocker is unbeatable! He won the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter feature on Saturday night for his fourth straight win of the season. By the way, this kid has only run four races!
Its just “another day in the office” for Ira Farnell. Ira’s got a trunk-load of Sharp Shooter podium trophies this year and is making a strong bid for the championship.
Jeremy Doran has championship ambitions too. Doran’s third place finish on Saturday night keeps him right up there in the Sharp Shooter points parade!
Hang on to it Girl! Heidi Cooper takes a wild ride in a front stretch “dust-up” during the Street Stock feature.
When the dust cleared, Rick Cashol picked up the checkered flag and first place trophy in the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock feature. The five-time champ has won two features so far this season.
Luc McLaughlin comes home second in the Street Stock feature. Luc has been real consistent and if he keeps up the good work, he could be a champion in 2014!
Peter Martin followed up his Jensen Financial Hat-Trick Award performance a couple of weeks ago with a nice third place Street Stock feature finish on Saturday night.
Little Victoria takes a Kids Club ride with Heidi Cooper during intermission. How come most of the kids always ask to take their Kids Club ride with Heidi?
Geoff Armstrong takes a spin in the Sportsman feature.
Speaking of spins, Matt Rodgers takes a victory lap around Speedway 660 after winning the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman feature.
It was a great night for Team Rodgers. Matt’s younger brother Andrew took second in the Sportsman feature.
George Jamieson picks up another podium finish at Speedway 660. George drove his Dodge to third place in an entertaining Sportsman feature.
Pole sitter John Flemming and the other Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour drivers are just about ready to go racin in the Irving Oil Blending and Packaging 100.
Flemming dominates the early part of the race until a flat tire forced him to pit about 30 laps in. Greg Proude (#29) and Craig Slaunwhite were challenging the defending Parts for Truck Pro Stock champ.
Shawn Tucker powers by Slaunwhite for the lead. Tucker had a dominate car and led the most laps, but an infraction on a re-start resulted in a penalty that put the 52 to the back of the pack!
Slaunwhite spins out, while Jonathan Hicken (#5) and Dave O’Blenis scoot by on the inside.
It’s “Turple-Time”. Shawn brings the Zero to the front of the field with Proude and Flemming in hot-pursuit!
Last lap mayhem! Wow – what a wreck. With one-to-go the night ends in a negative way for these four drivers.
Shawn Turple wins the Irving Oil Blending and Packaging 100. It’s his first win at Speedway 660 since way back in 08! Little wonder he’s so happy!
Shawn Tucker and John Flemming share the podium with Shawn Turple. Flemming, who finished 2nd, was happy to get back up front after that early flat sent him to the rear of the field. Tucker, who settled for third, was not pleased with the decision by Tour officials to penalize him for a re-start infraction late in the race.
It was a great night of racing at Speedway 660. When all was said and done, the night belonged to Shawn Turple and his team from Enfield, Nova Scotia. Nice run Shawn – come back and see us on SpeedWeekend!
Thank-you for checking out this edition of the Sunday Photo Album and thanks to Michelle Roy for the nice pics!
