The Sunday Photo Album: June 08
What an incredible night of racing at Speedway 660! The Pro All Star Series was in town for 150 laps of excitement and the DMR Auto Sales & Service and Martins Home heating Sportsman Division drivers delivered great performances too. We invite you to check out our latest photo album. The Pro All Stars took time to meet and greet Speedway 660’s great fans on Saturday. Legendary short-track racer Mike Rowe signs autographs and chats with fans before the first green flag of the evening. When it came time to start racing, Heidi Cooper crossed the stripe first to win the first DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock heat of the evening.T.J. “Hollywood” Madore (#7) and Rick Cashol create a little havoc in the 2nd Street Stock heat on the exit of turn four! When the smoke cleared, young Peter Martin won the second Street Stock heat. Peter is one of our talented young drivers who is really coming into his own in this tough division.Greg Fahey won the first Martins Home Heating Sportsman heat of the evening. Greg owns six Speedway 660 championships and is no stranger to the Riverview Ford Victory Lane!Matt Rodgers began his night by visiting the beach, which kinda turned into the bog after all the rain we got on Thursday & Friday. Matt had a much better finish to his night though.Matt’s “little brother” Andrew takes the checkers in the 2nd Sportsman heat race. Young Andrew has won several Sportsman heats and been on the podium lots of times, but heading into Saturday night had never won a feature in this division. It’s been two years since the PASS North drivers have invaded the Geary Woods and exactly two years since Johnny Clark has won a PASS SLM feature race. Clark buries the field in the first qualifying heat race to get his night off to an awesome start!Former Speedway 660 street stock driver, Matt Matheson, spins out in front of the field in the second PASS heat. Matt’s night would go from bad to worse early in the SLM 150!There was lots of activity in the concession area on Saturday night. From our “Famous Speedway Fries” to NASCAR collectibles to racing scanner radio rentals there was something for everyone. The DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock 20 lap feature was a wild one and Rick Cashol claimed the victory. It was his first win in over a year and after a slow start to his 2014 season Rick is rollin right now. Look out street stockers, “The Villain” is back!Roger Slocum, Speedway 660’s defending street stock champ, was happy to settle for second on Saturday night. Roger congratulated Rick on his awesome run and was pleased to rack up more championship points of his own.Luc MacLaughlin had another nice run in the street stock feature, finishing third. The 2013 Rookie of the Year is gunning for the title this season and is one of the most consistent drivers in this division.A scarey moment in the Martins Home Heating Sportsman feature – Dawson MacIntee hammers the MacKay Builders sign pole. Last week’s feature winner was unhurt, but the #19 is going to need some TLC! Andrew Rodgers (#14) and Brent Roy (#16JG) had a wicked battle for the lead and the win in the Sportsman feature. They raced hard, lap after lap, trading the lead a couple or three times in the process. When the checkers came out to end the 30 lap feature, it was Andrew who got to go to the Riverview Ford Victory Lane. After a string of podium finishes last year and early this season, Andrew finally got to celebrate his first feature win with his Grandfather, Dad, Brother and crew. What a run and what a moment!Brent Roy captured 2nd place in that sensational Sportsman feature and said young Andrew completely wore him out. Brent was quick to give credit where credit is due, but hopes the next time these two get after it, he’ll be the one celebrating a win.Matt Rodgers had reason to smile Saturday night and not just because his brother took the win. For the second week in a row Matt claimed third place in the Sportsman feature. Not bad, considering he ran through the “bog” and climbed the bank earlier in the evening. The sun goes down in the Geary Woods and the best short track drivers in eastern North America get ready to race in the PASS North Super Late Model 150.Talk about fast, these babies went down the back stretch in a blur after taking the green flag to get this thing going!Remember Matt Matheson? Well he ended up on his roof down in turn three, bringing out an immediate red flag. His great safety gear protected Matt and quick action by our Fire and Rescue & Emergency Medical teams got him out of the car safely. But Matheson’s night was done after just 23 laps.Johnny Clark ran up front all night long, but couldn’t hold off Turner, Maine’s Glen Luce (#7L). Luce blew by the 54 and led a bunch of laps before Johnny grabbed the lead back.Joey Doiron flew by the 54 and is seen here battling Cassius Clark. Doiron looked like he would take the win, but “The Last Train to Clarksville” was headed to the station!“Here’s Johnny” – Clark takes the lead over Doiron and with just a few laps to go, he’s got this one sewn up right? Wrong!Where did he come from? With less than ten to go D.J. Shaw leaves Doiron behind and dives low on the leader. Shaw drove the wheels off the #60 to try to become the first driver in PASS history to win four SLM races in a row! After an incredible race Johnny Clark parks it in the Riverview Ford Victory Lane. It was his first PASS North win in two years, but fourth PASS victory in a row at Speedway 660 – they got rained out here last year, so this year’s trophy will stand aside the 2010, 11 & 12 hardware he claimed up here in NB!Clark (center) was happy to break his lengthy win-less streak at his “home away from home”. D.J. (right) took second and had reason to smile because he had another good points night and; Joey (left) was proud to take third in one of the most exciting PASS North races of the season!
