The Sunday Photo Album – June 1st
There was plenty of exciting action at Speedway 660 on Saturday night. A few race teams had reason to celebrate, while a few others were not so happy when the sparks started to fly in the Geary Woods! When all was said and done, it was a great night of entertainment for our fans.
Courtney O’Blenis won the Westwood Estate Apartments Bandolero Division heat race on Saturday night. Little did we know at the time that Team O’Blenis would make a total of six trips to the Riverview Ford Victory Lane on this night!
Rookie Andre Chamberlain was some happy to take his first ever checkered flag on Saturday night. His team celebrated a heat race win in the highly competitive DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock Division. Nice job Andre!
Kevin Peterson spins out after a little contact in his Street Stock heat. It was the first of several “dust-ups” on the night.
The “broom crew” showed up with a new ride on Saturday night. The little vehicle and it’s occupants were kept pretty busy doing their thing during the Service Master Clean Cautions.
“Hollywood” Madore dove down to the inside to make it three wide in his Street Stock heat. Young TJ passed Rick Cashol and Benji Ruff to take the win. It was just the beginning of an incredible night for Madore.
Another O’Blenis – another Riverview Ford Victory Lane visit! Alexandra O’Blenis moved up from Bandolero to Sportsman this year. In week two of the 2014 season, she claimed her first win in the division. Way to go Girl!
Recognize the paint scheme? Dave O’Blenis rolls into Victory Lane in a Re/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock heat race. It was the first of three checkers for the defending Pro Stock champ who would claim a Jensen Financial Hat Trick Award later in the evening.
Courtney kept the special night going strong for Team O’Blenis. She won the Westwood Estate Apartments Bando feature. Mom Corrie and Dad Dave are pretty proud of their youngest daughter!
Cole Tanner was runner-up for the second week in a row in our Bando feature. During his post race interview Cole cast his eyes over to the Riverview Ford Victory Lane, hoping to make a visit there in the near future.
MacKenzie Brewer followed up his first ever podium finish in week one of the Speedway 660 season with another third place finish on Saturday night. Former street stocker Brian Campbell (left) is happy to see his Grandson have success in the Geary Woods!
Courtney Barton gets spun around early in the Sharp Shooter feature. This little “dust-up” was just a sign of things to come.
Jeremy Doran and Randy Campbell had a classic confrontation in the Sharp Shooter feature. Jeremy ended up on his roof and Randy got a black flag. Both drivers were done for the night!
Speedway 660’s Fire & Rescue crew and Emergency Medical Team arrive on the scene quickly. They put out the fire and oh yeah Jeremy got out of the car unhurt, we’re not really sure about the #8 though.
When the dust and smoke finally cleared Ira Farnell grabbed the checkered flag in the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter feature. Ira, who hails from Lincoln also claimed a heat race.
Neil Miousse came home in second place in the Sharp Shooter feature. Neil loves racing these little cars on Saturday nights down at Speedway 660.
Kyle Boudreau got his first ever podium at Speedway 660 on Saturday night. Kyle, a 2014 Sharp Shooter rookie, took third place in this wild feature race.
Young Michaela from Traceyville was the Speedway 660 Kids Club winner on Saturday night. Heidi Cooper gives Michaela a nice ride around the track during intermission.
T.J. “Hollywood” Madore and his crew celebrate their third win of the night. Hollywood picks up a Jensen Financial Hat Trick Award for winning his heat, dash and feature. That’s a pretty good night of racin!
For the second week in a row Rob Raynes drives the #41 to a strong Street Stock finish. Rob came home second and his really happy he’s off to a tremendous start to his season.
Roger Slocum, the 2013 DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock champ, picks up his first podium finish of 2014. Roger was happy with third place Saturday night and says it’ll be a tough chore to win back-to-back titles, but he’s gonna give it a go!
This was the scene at the start-finish line on the last lap of the Martins Home Heating Sportsman feature. Alexandra O’Blenis and Matt Rodgers get tangled up as the checkers fly!
Dawson McIntee somehow dodged the melee at the end of the Martins Home Heating Sportsman feature and crossed the finish line first. At 15, Dawson became the youngest driver to ever win a Speedway 660 Sportsman feature. That’s an incredible accomplishment Mr. McIntee!
Greg Fahey, the 2013 Sportsman champ at Speedway 660, was all smiles after coming home second in the feature. Greg, who’s running a limited schedule with us in 2014, was happy with his finish, but even happier that he dodged the wreck.
Matt Rodgers wanted the win some bad on Saturday night and before the wreck it looked like he might get it done, before having to settle for third. Although he was disappointed and a little perturbed at what happened on the last lap, Matt kept his composure during the post race interview, thanked all of his sponsors, congratulated Dawson and even remembered to wish his grandparents a Happy 55th anniversary.
Kevin Moore got his photo taken on the podium for the 2nd straight week at Speedway 660. Big Kevin came home 3rd in the Re/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock 40 lap feature. Moore is happy to be consistent, but is anxious to park the 88 in the Riverview Ford Victory Lane one of these nights.
Derek Christie settled for 2nd place for the 2nd straight week in the Pro Stock feature. Derek knows he’s got a great car and figures he’s got to get up on the wheel and run just a little bit harder to take the checkers.
Saturday night belonged to Team O’Blenis. Dave capped off an awesome night for his family by winning the Re/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock feature and the Jensen Financial Hat Trick Award. Six trips to the Riverview Ford Victory Lane by one family on the same night is an incredible feat that may not soon be matched, unless of course the O’Blenis girls and their Dad get after it again at Speedway 660!
