(BEDFORD, NS – May 26th, 2022) – The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour kicks off its 2022 season this Sunday with a trip to Speedway 660 in Geary, New Brunswick. The Samuel, Son & Co. 50 is the first of a dozen point races on the Series and the first of three stops at the 1/3-mile oval in New Brunswick’s Capital Region. The race is a part of Steele GMC Kids Day at the track. Racing on Sunday, May 29th begins at 2pm.

The Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour has produced a past champions list full of familiar names to racing fans that have gone on to success outside regional borders. A new name will look to etch their mark into the history books to join the likes of Butcher, Blenkhorn, MacNeill, Langille and many more in 2022. With Craig MacDonald (Waverley, NS) not running a full schedule as of press time, the reigning titlist leaves his throne open for another driver to race into the champion’s club beginning with Sunday’s Samuel, Son & Co. 50.

As was the case last year, the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour is full of young talent looking to make the rise through the racing ranks. All eyes are on Danny Chisholm (Canning, NS) after the last twelve months of racing. Between a Scotia Speedworld track championship, success in Florida at Little Gator Legend Cars Winter Nationals, a Nashville Spring Series Championship and two local feature wins at Petty Raceway and Scotia Speedworld, his resume in the last year is one some only dream of accomplishing in a career. The former Bandolero SpeedWeekend winner at Speedway 660 will look to add the Samuel, Son & Co. 50 to his list on Sunday and continue his hot streak.

The most recent winner at Speedway 660 in Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour competition is Owen Mahar (Hubley, NS). The Steele Volkswagen entry won in a wild finish last September when Chisholm and MacDonald’s hard racing for the lead allowed Mahar to sneak by for the victory. Mahar, who also picked up a local Legend win at Petty Raceway last Saturday and was on the podium last Sunday at Scotia Speedworld, also has momentum on his side heading into Speedway 660. The team has two cars and it wouldn’t surprise anyone if former East Coast International Pro Stock Tour driver Daryl Mahar hops in the Samuel, Son and Co. 50 to race wheel-to-wheel with his son and their peers.

The Rookie of the Year battle will be one to watch as well as a tri-province tilt will be served up for fans in Geary on Sunday. Teagan Dempsey (Fredericton, NB) calls Speedway 660 home and has moved to the Legend ranks after a successful Bandolero career. Tanton Wooldridge (Summerside, PE) had Bandolero feature wins at every track he visited in the Maritimes, including Speedway 660. Kelsey Hann (New Glasgow, NS) comes from the karting ranks and will look to add to her family’s stock car racing history with her first season in Legend cars. While not a rookie to Legend cars, Gage Gilby (Enfield, NS) will be looking to build on a podium finish earned in last season’s finale and start 2022 with the Cross Roads Maritime League of Legends Tour strong.

While no formal pre-registration has been taken for the event, around a dozen cars are expected to battle it out for the win in the Samuel, Son & Co. 50. The Bandolero division, which will be overseen by the Maritime League of Legends Tour officials on Sunday, will also be on the card and is expected to draw several cars from across the Maritimes to compete.

Adult grandstand admission price for Sunday’s Samuel, Son and Co. 50 is $20 (aged 16 and up). Pit admission is $25 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. New in 2022, all those entering the pit gates must complete their insurance waiver online prior to heading to the track. This waiver can be completed by going to Speedway660.speedwaiver.com.

Pit gates for competitors will open at 9am on Sunday, grandstand gates open for spectators at 12:30pm, the Steele GMC Kids Day Autograph Session at 1pm with racing getting underway at 2pm. An open practice for Legend competitors will follow the Saturday racing card. A complete race day format will be available via the track’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/Speedway660.
