20th Anniversary Season begins Saturday Night!
Speedway 660 is ready to start its exciting short-track racing season at 7PM this Saturday. The Riverview Ford Season Opener delayed a week because of foul weather, will entertain race fans with action in five exciting divisions.
“Everyone was disappointed with the rain-out last weekend, but we are all ready and anxious to finally get our season underway this weekend” said Speedway 660’s Max Roy. “On Friday evening we’ll hold a pre-season practice and tech session for race teams in all five divisions and then on Saturday evening we’ll kick off our season in fine fashion with the Riverview Ford Season Opener.”
The pits open at 4PM on Friday. The Speedway 660 tech team will be on hand to conduct pre-season inspection of race cars in the Westwood Estate Apartments Bandolero, Fredericton Jewelers 4 Cylinder, Street Stock, Martins Home Heating Sportsman and Pro Stock Divisions. As cars make their way through tech inspection, they will be cleared to head out onto the track for the pre-season practice session, which will run throughout the evening.
“Safety is our primary concern and we want to make sure every one of the roughly 100 race cars that we expect for the season opener adheres to all of our safety rules and guidelines” said Donnie Greer, Speedway 660’s chief tech inspector. “Although safety is our big focus for the pre-season tech inspection, we’ll also be checking to ensure each car follows our rules of competition.”
Speedway 660 fans are ready for our 20th anniversary season to begin this Saturday night at 7PM. We expect attendance for the 2013 race season to top the 60 thousand mark.
