FOUR RACE PRO STOCK SERIES RETURNING TO NEW BRUNSWICK TRACKS IN 2021
(RIVER GLADE, NB – November 17th, 2020) – After a successful partnership in 2020, Petty International Raceway and Speedway 660 have announced they will once again produce a four race series for Pro Stock competitors in 2021. The home and home set will tie two races from each track into a point championship with added cash and prizes available for competitors throughout the quartet of races.
The second edition of the Pro Stock partnership between the River Glade and Geary, New Brunswick ovals will be anchored by their two major September staples. The 21st Annual Pro Stock 250 at Speedway 660 on Labour Day Weekend and the Eighth Annual Mike Stevens Memorial at Petty International Raceway in late September will once again play an integral role in determining a champion in the home and home affair. The other two events that will comprise the Series along with prizes and purse for the event are expected to be announced in the early months of 2021.
Ashton Tucker (Lyttleton, NB), driving for Brad Silliker Motorsports, took the four race championship in 2020 on the strength of two wins at Speedway 660 and two second place finishes at Petty International Raceway. Cole Butcher (Hantsport, NS) and Dylan Gosbee (Cornwall, PE) also shared in the purse for the top three drivers in last year’s edition of the Series. Bicknell Racing Products and Lonnie Sommerville Racing also made vendor draws for eligible competitors in the four race Series. In total, 42 teams competed in at least one of the four races with 18 drivers racing in at least three of the four events.
It is that strength in numbers and the relationship between the Province’s two premier race tracks that Brent Roy of Speedway 660 hopes can continue to grow into 2021.
“We were able to prove in 2020 that Pro Stock racing is alive and well in New Brunswick,” said Roy. “We saw incredible car counts at all four events. We’re excited to continue this partnership with Petty International Raceway into 2021 and look forward to bringing some awesome prizes for the teams that compete!”
Petty International Raceway co-owner, and six-time Maritime Late Model Touring champion Wayne Smith, echoes that.
“We are pleased to be a part of this four race Pro Stock series again with Speedway 660,” said Smith about the partnership. “This was a big success last year and we are hoping it will work again this year. Both tracks are trying to make the racing in New Brunswick bigger and better every season and hopefully we can work together on our full schedules like we did this past season. Speedway 660 and the Roy family have been very good to work with and we have some great partners involved that have come on board to support us. We cannot wait to share more as we work on growing this Series for drivers, teams and fans of racing in this Province!”
Fans and teams are encouraged to keep tabs of both online homes of Speedway 660 and Petty International Raceway for up-to-date information on the 2021 season at both racing facilities as it becomes available.
