SpeedWeekend Update: Martin’s Sponsors Sportman 150!
(Aug. 5, 2017) SpeedWeekend is less than a month away and Speedway 660 is busy preparing Atlantic Canada’s biggest weekend of racing entertainment. The Saturday night Sportsman race has a new sponsor for 2017. It will now be known as the Martin’s Home Heating 150. Richard and Anne Martin, long-time race fans, individual car sponsors and Speedway 660’s Sportsman division sponsor, will now present the big SpeedWeekend Sportsman race.
“Anne and I have always loved racing and our business has been a marketing partner with Speedway 660 for many years, so when this opportunity came up it was an easy decision for us to go for it” said Richard Martin. “The Martin’s Home Heating 150 is really the premier event for Sportsman race teams in Atlantic Canada and it is an honour for us to expand our relationship with Speedway 660 and bring this great race to the fans at SpeedWeekend.”Richard and Anne Martin have been race fans for many years. Between 30 and 40 Sportsman teams, from the Maritimes and the State of Maine, are expected to be at Speedway 660 for the September 2nd race. The Martin’s Home Heating 150 is part of an exceptional weekend of racing entertainment. It begins on Friday, September 1st with the annual Corn-Boil and infield concert with high-energy classic rock band Mucky Fingers. Admission for the Friday night event is just a toonie!Mucky Fingers will be back to “Rock the House” on Friday evening, September 1st, to kick off SpeedWeekend 2017. The annual Corn-Boil is also on the agenda during this amazing infield party.
The racing gets underway at 6:30PM on Saturday, September 2nd with the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 150 being the highlight of the evening. Fans will also see the MJS Holdings Limited East Coast Mini Stocks, the Maritime League of Legends and round one of the Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bando Blast.Alexandra O’Blenis, Ryan Messer and Laurie Cormier were on the podium for the Sportsman 150 race at last year’s SpeedWeekend.
Then on SpeedWeekend Sunday fans will be treated to an amazing afternoon and evening of racing. Qualifying for the McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250 gets underway at 2PM, with the biggest Pro Stock race in our region taking the green flag right around 7PM. Also during a full afternoon of racing, fans will see the DMR Auto Sales Street Stocks, the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters and round two of the Tim’s Corner Motorsports Bando Blast.Andy Fox, from McLaughlin Roof Trusses, congratulates Joey Doiron for winning the 250 on SpeedWeekend one year ago.

Sponsored laps for the McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250 are $50 each and are selling quickly. A limited number of campsites are available for $50 plus HST for the entire weekend.
