150 Laps of Excitement!
“We’ve been pretty good the last couple of years in the Sportsman car, but we know we’ll be facing some stiff competition on Saturday night” said O’Blenis, who won the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 100 earlier this season. “It’s important to spend some extra time on the car in the shop this week, have a good run in the heat race, start up front in the 150, stay out of trouble and save something for the final 25 laps.”Dave O’Blenis is best known as a five-time RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock champ, but in the last couple of years he has also dominated the major Sportsman races at Speedway 660.
O’Blenis, who also runs a RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock at Speedway 660, will be joined by fellow Pro Stocker Lonnie Sommerville in the Firecracker 150. The weekly Martins Home Heating Sportsman roster, including point leader Randy Moore and O’Blenis’s daughter Alexandra, will also provide strong competition. Speedway 660 also expects drivers, from other race tracks across the region, to visit the Geary Woods for the race.
“The Firecracker 150 is always one of our most exciting races of the season and with the talent we’ve got lined up, Saturday’s race should be one of the best in years” said Speedway 660’s Max Roy. “Drivers will be going all out for the win, but they’ll also use this race as a tune-up for the Irving I-24-150 Sportsman race coming up in three weeks during the Irving Blending & Packaging SpeedWeekend.”There are several talented young drivers, including Drew Greenlaw (#23) and Devin Snell (#10), who will be looking for their first career Firecracker 150 win this weekend.
Race fans will also see the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stocks and Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters on Saturday night. Adult ticket prices are $20; Youth tickets, for kids between eight and 15, are $14 and adult pit passes are $5. Admission is always free for fans seven and under.
The rain date for the Firecracker 150 is Sunday at 2PM. If the weather is unsettled on Saturday morning fans and race teams should call the race line at 506-454-7223 or visit www.speedway660.com for race day status updates.
