SpeedWeekend Photo Album
SpeedWeekend 2013 provided race fans with a lot of great racing action. The Irving Blending & Packaging 150 and Auto Value 250 were both awesome races. We had our first three-time winner of the 250 and the 150 winner came all the way from Cape Sable Island, Nova Scotia! Now is an excellent time to look back at some of the images from SpeedWeekend 2013.
The RE/MAX Group Four Realty Relay for Life Team got things off to a great start on SpeedWeekend Friday evening. The Harvey’s Family Farms CornBoil was a huge success and was a wonderful way to swing into Speedway 660’s biggest weekend of the year.
Time to ignite the biggest bonfire of the season!
Tristan Horncastle and his band got the Infield Party going and entertained race fans with songs from his new album.
It’s SpeedWeekend Saturday and time to go racin! The West Wood Estate Bandolero girls and boys put on an awesome show for our race fans.
OUCH! John Rankin (#28) and Greg Fahey, the 2013 Martins Home Heating Champ, end up in a precarious position in the beach during their qualifying heat for the Irving Blending & Packaging 150. Fahey had to take a Provisional to get into the big race, but drove from the back of the 26 car field to end up with a 4th place finish. Things didn’t get much better for Rankin who had a disappointing 24th place run.
Driver introductions for the first 25 lap Bando Blast.
Drew Greenlaw ends up in the Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane in the first Bando Blast. Drew beat out Cole Tanner and Craig MacDonald in a very entertaining race. Note the For Sale sign on Drew’s little race car. That’s because Speedway 660’s 2013 Bando champion is jumping into a Sportsman car in 2014!
Dave O’Blenis (#48) makes the inside move on Wayne Smith for the lead in the Irving Blending & Packaging 150. Smith led early, but O’Blenis dominated the first half of the race.
After the half-way break O’Blenis continued to lead until Colby Smith powers by to put the 77 at the front of the field. Colby would hold Dave off to win Atlantic Canada’s biggest Sportsman race of the season!
Colby is all smiles as he accepts the big cheque from the Irving Blending & Packaging folks.
Colby Smith (center) shares the podium with second place Dave O’Blenis (right) and Lonnie Sommerville who finished third. It was a late night for drivers and fans, because there was more than a two hour rain delay between qualifying and the start of the Irving Blending & Packaging 150.
SpeedWeekend Sunday got off to a scary start. In the 2nd Bando Blast Dawson McIntee barrel-rolled the 19 over in turn two. Young Dawson emerged unscathed but his race car ended up on the flat-bed along with the 88 of Nicholas Naugle.
Cole Tanner turned the tables on Drew Greenlaw by winning the 2nd Bando Blast. Drew settled for 2nd and Alicia Mowat finished third.
Randy Campbell won the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter feature on SpeedWeekend Sunday. Campbell dedicated his win to Jack Lane. Ira Farnell and Jeremy Doran finished 2nd and third.
The DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock drivers put on quite a show on SpeedWeekend Sunday. The street stockers ran an exciting 50 lap feature that kept our fans on the edge of their seats.
Josh Arbeau won the 50 lap street stock feature. Not bad, considering it was his first and only race of the season. Josh took the season off to be able to spend more time with his wife and a new baby!
New Brunswick Premier David Alward welcomes fans to Speedweekend, during the Auto Value 250 pre-race ceremonies.

Fireworks light up the Geary Woods as Shawn Tucker climbs out of his race car after winning his third Auto Value 250. Tucker led almost 180 laps and was able to hold off several challengers for the victory.
Tucker celebrates the biggest win of his racing career!
Team Tucker now has four major wins in 2013. But the Auto Value 250 is his biggest accomplishment. Shawn picked up more than $25,000 in prize money for his efforts on SpeedWeekend.
Kirk Thibeau celebrates a 2nd place Auto Value 250 finish. The winner of the very first 250 at Speedway 660, led several laps this year but wasn’t able to pass Tucker for the win. Kirk says Shawn was just too strong on this night, but he’ll be back next year to try to get his second victory in our big race.
American short-track racing legend Ben Rowe was happy with a 3rd place run in the Auto Value 250.Rowe (center) drove the machine of “Hurricane” Hal O’Neal (far left) in the race. Ben says the Speedway 660 fans are incredible and he loves coming to the Geary Woods on SpeedWeekend.
