Speedway 660’s season opens next Saturday night!
The stock car racing community is starting to get excited about the twentieth anniversary season at Speedway 660. Fans, race teams, advertisers, staff and the new owners are counting the days until the first green flag of the season flies. Saturday, May 25th is the night the 2013 season gets underway at Atlantic Canada’s most exciting short-track.
Get Ready – Get Set – It’s almost time to go racin!
“We are really excited to get the season started and have been working hard to get Speedway 660 ready for the Riverview Ford Season Opener next Saturday night” said Max Roy, spokesman for the new ownership group. “We want the twentieth anniversary season and our first season as owners to be special for racing fans and every-one else who loves this exciting sport.”
Rain Dates Return for Several Race Events
Fans and race-teams will be happy that additional rain-dates have been added to the schedule. Speedway 660 always has had rain-dates for the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour, the Pro All-Star Series Tour and the SpeedWeekend races. But this year rain dates have been added for the Riverview Ford Season Opener; both big Sportsman races; the Best of the Best Pro Stock 150 and; the Fan Appreciation Night of Champions.
“We listened to feed-back from fans, advertisers and race teams before making the decision to bring rain-dates back for several of the major events on our schedule” said Max Roy. “Hopefully the weather will co-operate and we won’t need to use rain-dates, but if they are required we hope our race fans will respond and support racing on an occasional Sunday afternoon.”
Anticipation is building for the Riverview Ford Season Opener next Saturday night at
Speedway 660
Big 50/50 Draw
The 50/50 draw for the first race of 2013 is going to be a big one. That’s because $3100.00 was unclaimed at the Auto Value 250 during SpeedWeekend 2012 and is being added to the first 50/50 pot of the year. So next Saturday night someone is going to walk out of Speedway 660 with a big pocketful of cash!
Practice Next Friday Night
Fans who just can’t wait for the Riverview Ford Season Opener next Saturday night will head down to the Geary Woods on Friday. Thats because a practice session will take place, giving drivers a chance to put their cars through the paces in preparation for the opener. The pits for the annual “shake-down-session” open at 4PM and drivers in all divisions will have several opportunities to make sure their machines are ready to go racing for real come Saturday night. There is an $8.00 admission fee to take in the Friday night practice session – kids under seven years of age are admitted free.
The Count-Down is On
The Riverview Ford Season Opener is set to go next Saturday, May 25th at 7PM. Race fans are encouraged to come out to Speedway 660 early because heat racing in the Westwood Estate Apartments Bandolero Division and Fredericton Jewelers Four Cylinder Division get underway at 6:20PM. The rain-date is Sunday, May 26th at 2PM.
Adult ticket prices are $12 – Youth tickets, for kids between 8 and 15 years of age are $9 and admission is absolutely free for our youngest fans, seven and under.
