(May 14, 2015) : Maritime stock car fans will get to see some exciting short-track racing action this weekend. Speedway 660, in Geary, New Brunswick, will open its gates for a Pre-Tech and Practise session at 1PM on Saturday, followed by the Riverview Ford Season Opener at 2PM on Sunday.

“It’s been a long, hard winter, but we’re ready to go this weekend and invite fans to come see five exciting divisions of racing” said Speedway 660’s Max Roy. “The Riverview Ford Season Opener only comes once a year and is one of our most anticipated events so we expect a full field of cars to entertain racing fans.”Christie and Boudreau pro stock action 2014The Re/Max Pro Stock Division has some of the closest finishes at Speedway 660. The fastest race cars in our region will continue to put on a great show for fans in 2015! 

One of the big stories, heading into the 2015 season, is the return of Greg Fahey and Lonnie Sommerville to the Re/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock Division.  Fahey, a three-time Pro Stock champion, spent the last two seasons in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman Division. Fahey won a Sportsman title in 2013 to become the first driver to win championships in Speedway 660’s top three divisions. Sommerville, a two-time Re/Max 250 champion, returns full-time after a few years with the Pro All Star Series and the Maritime Pro Stock Tour.bobactionlonniedaveLonnie Sommerville is no stranger to Speedway 660. The driver of #23 is used to running up front and winning races in the Geary Woods! 

“Lonnie and Greg are two of the top pro stock drivers in our region and we are really excited to have them return to run with us in 2015” said Roy. “Pro Stock is the fastest, most exciting form of racing in Atlantic Canada and we are proud to be the only track in our region to run a weekly pro stock division.”

In addition to the Re/Max Pro Stocks, fans will be treated to racing in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman, DMR Auto Sales Street Stocks, Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters and West Wood Estates Apartments Bandolero divisions.Three-wide street stock action 2014Three-wide is something race fans have come to expect from the DMR Auto Sales Street Stock Division drivers. 

“Our five weekly divisions provide fans with an incredible amount of exciting action that has made Speedway 660’s brand of racing among the best in Canada” said Roy. “Race teams have worked hard all winter preparing their cars for the 2015 season and we encourage fans to come out to see them this weekend at Saturday’s Pre-Tech and Practise session and Sunday’s Riverview Ford Season Opener.”

Ticket prices for Saturday’s event are $10 per person, however fans, seven and under will be admitted free of charge. Pit passes for this event are $2. Adult ticket prices are $14 for Sunday’s Riverview Ford Season Opener. Youth tickets (eight to 15 years of age) are $10, while children under eight will be admitted free. Pit passes are $2. The Family Pass, which includes tickets for two adults and two youths, is $38.660_4988Speedway 660’s youngest drivers always put on a great show for fans.
