Points racing Tonight – ENDURO cancelled!
(June 9, 2016) What was to have been a double header will now be a single event this weekend at Speedway 660. Race fans will be treated to an action packed Weekly Championship Points event tonight at 6:30PM, but tomorrow’s ENDURO has been cancelled.
“Fans will see drivers, in four exciting racing divisions, on Saturday night and even though it’s still early in the season we’re starting to see some pretty good championship point battles” said Max Roy, from Speedway 660. “Unfortunately we will not be able to hold the first of three scheduled ENDURO events this Sunday because we didn’t have enough drivers pre-register for the race.”Fans have seen some really great racing so far this season in all four divisions including the Martins Home Heating Sportsman.
Speedway 660 is attempting to re-invent the Capital City Auto Parts ENDURO division by moving from the older, rear-wheel drive cars to newer, front-wheel drives. The older cars are getting harder to find and it is hoped once the transition to the newer cars is made that ENDURO racing will be revived. The old rear-wheel drive cars that were used for ENDURO racing for the last two decades are pretty much wrecked and are getting hard to find. That’s why we are attempting to move to newer front wheel drive cars.
“The next Capital City ENDURO 200 is scheduled for July 16th and hopefully by then there will be more cars ready to race” said Roy. “With only six cars pre-registered for this weekend’s event, we decided to cancel the race instead of having fans come out to the track and be disappointed with the low number of cars.”
Saturday night, championship points are up for grabs in the Re/Max Group Four Realty Pro Stock, Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman, DMR Auto Sales Street Stock and Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter Divisions. Adult ticket prices are $14, youth tickets, for kids between eight and 16, are $10 and Family Passes for two adults and two youths are $38. Admission is always free for fans seven and under. We’ve had three different pro stock feature winners in the first three weeks of racing in the Geary Woods. The mix of veteran drivers and a half dozen rookies has made this division very competitive.
“We’ve had right around 20 pro stock cars for every race so far this season, including a half a dozen talented rookies, so our top division is really providing fans with exciting racing” said Roy. “Sportsman, street stock and sharp shooter action has also been incredible so I invite everyone to come out Saturday for a great night of racing.”
There is no rain date for this event. If the weather is unsettled on Saturday morning fans and race teams should call the race line at 506-454-7223 or visits www.speedway660.com for race day status updates.
Coming up on Saturday, June 18th Speedway 660 will present the the Martins Home Heating Sportsman 125. That will be followed by another Weekly Championship Point event on June 25th and the Parts for Trucks Pro Stock Tour on July 2nd.
