Kid’s Day Photo Album
(June 21, 2015) Last Saturday was Kid’s Day at Speedway 660. Before the races kids of all ages got to go into the pits to meet the drivers and during intermission our youngest fans took to the track for our annual candy scramble. And by the way, everyone got to enjoy some incredible racing.
Pro Stock driver Dave O’Blenis signs autographs for a couple of our youngest race fans.Kid’s Day is a special time when we open up the pits, prior to the races, so our fans can spend a little time checking out the cars and saying hello to our drivers.Sharp Shooter driver Kyle MacKinnon enjoys a moment with a young fan.Maybe someday I’ll be able to drive one of these Bando’s as fast as my hero Braden Langille does!Lee Goodine brought lots of treats for the kids. Lee is using her pink Street Stock car to raise awareness about cancer.Alicia Mowat, who just graduated from Minto High, made lots of new friends during Kid’s Day. Speedway 660 thanks Alicia and all of the other drivers for making this event special for their youngest fans. After the visit to the pits wrapped up, fans saw some great racing. The first checkered flag of the night went to Austin MacDonald who won his Bando heat race.We got to see a little three-wide action when the Sharp Shooters got out on the track.Speedway 660 has plenty of “Girl Power” in 2015. Destiny Enkel showed up all the guys by winning her Street Stock heat race!Matt Maillet (#29) and Justin Cole go for a little spin during one of the Sportsman heat races!Hello Matt are you in there? When you come to the races you are bound to see and smell a little smoke!A moment to remember. Fourteen year old Ryan Messer picks up his first-ever Sportsman checkered flag in a Kid’s Day heat race. Nice job Ryan! Cole Boudreau, who graduated from Chipman High earlier in the week, pops into victory lane after winning his Pro Stock heat race.Ira Farnell (#77) made some pretty nifty moves to work his way through the field and win the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter feature. Jeremy Doran rolled to another podium finish on Saturday night. Doran settled for second in the Sharp Shooter feature, which was a pretty intense little race! Neil Miousse and his right hand Lady April were pretty pleased with a third place in the Sharp Shooter feature. The 25 lap Bando Blast was quite a show. Braden Langille and Austin Tucker ran door to door for most of the race.When all was said and done Braden accepted the checkered flag and a nice trophy from David and Lee Goodine of West Wood Estates our Bando division sponsors.Austin had another strong run in the Bando Blast. Maybe next week he’ll be able to win his second feature of the year!Riley Goodwin picked a great time to have a strong run. Riley came home third in the Bando Blast.And then it was time for our annual Re/Max Candy Scramble!My pockets are getting full and there’s still lots of candy to be had!My hat is full of candy, now what? Time for the Street Stock feature. Courtney O’Blenis spins and is headed in the wrong direction down a one-way oval!Geoff Tugwell does an old-school victory lap after winning the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock feature.Roger Slocum (right) had a strong car on Saturday night. The 2013 Street Stock champ finished second in the feature.Rob Raynes has been the most consistent Street Stock driver this season. Rob, who finished third on Saturday night, has been on the podium every race this season. WOW!Remember Ryan Messer? He flipped his car during the Sportsman feature! Our amazing infield Fire and Rescue crew got the car back on it’s wheels and our Emergency Medical Team helped get Ryan safely out of the car. Devin Snell wins the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman feature for the second week in a row. BTW Devin’s very first feature win came last week!Randy Moore gives the “thumbs-up” after a strong 2nd place finish and his first podium in the new race car. Nicely done Randy!Drew Greenlaw, who will head into Grade 12 next fall back home in Eastport, came home 3rd in the Sportsman feature.Madison and Katie sure are Daddy’s Girls! Lonnie Sommerville celebrates a Re/Max Pro Stock feature win with his smiling daughters and a happy crew.Greg Fahey is still going strong. Greg finished second in the Pro Stock feature and has been on the podium for all three features so far this year. Cole Boudreau followed up his heat win with an impressive third place finish in the Pro Stock feature. This teenager continues to be one of Atlantic Canada’s brightest young stars. We’ll leave you with this – it was Kid’s Day at Speedway 660 and our youngest race fans had a great time. Richard Atkinson, the big kid in this photo, had a pretty good time too!
