Come see the Firecracker 150 tonight!
(July 21, 2016) Speedway 660 hosts the Clark Chevrolet Firecracker 150 tonight at 6:30. The best Sportsman cars in Atlantic Canada will invade the Geary Woods for one of their biggest races of the season. Dave O’Blenis, winner of the last three Firecrackers, has to be considered the favourite heading into the race.
“It’s great to win these big races, but it’s not easy because you have to really make sure your car is ready for 150 laps and you have to make sure you are physically and mentally prepared as a driver” said O’Blenis who won the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 125 earlier this season. “And even if the car and driver are up for the challenge, you really need things to go your way because one flat tire, one little mechanical issue or one incident on the track can take you out of contention in one of our region’s biggest sportsman races of the season.”Dave O’Blenis is the man-to-beat when the Clark Chevrolet Firecracker 150 goes green on Saturday night. Last year O’Blenis out ran Randy Moore and Brent Roy to capture the win.
The 2016 edition of the Firecracker 150 marks the return of a former marketing partner to Speedway 660. Clark Chevrolet Cadillac sponsored racing in Geary back in the 1990’s but hasn’t been involved in sponsoring the track for several years.
“We’re really excited to have Clark Chevrolet Cadillac, who is celebrating 100 years of automotive sales and service, support racing and sponsor the Firecracker 150” said Speedway 660’s Max Roy. “The Clark Chevrolet Firecracker 150 is one of the most important sportsman races of the season in Atlantic Canada and it sure is nice to work with the folks from Clark’s to bring our fans this race.” Marketing partners are one of the most important components of stock car racing. Speedway 660 and it’s sportsman drivers are thrilled to have Clark Chevrolet Cadillac return to our sport.
