Excitement is building for SpeedWeekend!

Last Updated: August 19, 2014By

Over 35 Pro Stock teams have already pre-registered and will attempt to qualify for the Re/Max 250 on Sunday, August 31st. Oxford 250 winner Travis Benjamin, who is looking for his first Re/Max 250 victory, will make the trip north for the big race.

Austin Theriault, who finished second in the Oxford 250, will also be on his way to Speedway 660 on SpeedWeekend. Theriault is a part-time JR Motorsports NASCAR Nationwide driver and is based out of North Carolina.

“There’s a lot of interest in this year’s Re/Max 250 and we’ve had a lot of race teams make the commitment to be here, so we’re pretty excited” said Speedway 660’s Max Roy. “To have the first and second place finishers from this year’s Oxford 250, many other Pro All Star Series teams, drivers from the Maritime Pro Stock Tour and our own weekly Pro Stock Series is going to make for one heck of an exciting race.”

johnny clark PASS win 2014Johnny Clark is headed to Speedway 660 on SpeedWeekend. Clark won his fourth straight PASS race here, earlier this season,  and he is also a two-time Re/Max 250 winner!

Speedway 660 has also announced that the Atlantic Modified Tour will be part of the support card for the Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 150 Sportsman race. Race fans will also see the Westwood Estate Apartments Bandoleros on the SpeedWeekend Saturday show. On Sunday the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters and DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stocks will be the support classes for the Re/Max 250 Pro Stock race.

“The Atlantic Modified Tour was last here in 2010 and we decided it was time to bring them back for SpeedWeekend 2014” Roy said. “There are several AMT drivers from the Fredericton area, who are well known to our fans, and we thought our crowd would enjoy seeing these open-wheel cars again.”

ryan messerLittle Ryan Messer won the first Bando championship at Speedway 660 back in 2010. Ryan, who is not so little anymore, is looking forward to bringing his Atlantic Modified Tour car to his “home-track” on SpeedWeekend.

There are still a few Re/Max 250 lap sponsorship opportunities and some campsites available for the biggest weekend of racing in Atlantic Canada.
