Clark sets Speedway 660 record!
(Sept. 6, 2015) Cassius Clark won the Irving Blending & Packaging Pro Stock 250 on Sunday night, taking home $30,100. A Big Payday for Mr. Clark!
“We’ve won some pretty big races over the years but this is the biggest payday in my racing career and I want to thank Rollie MacDonald and this King Racing Team for putting an awesome car under me tonight” said Cassius Clark from Farmington, Maine. “The car was perfect and to win the Irving Blending & Packaging 250 in front of this capacity crowd at Speedway 660 is something I’ll remember for a long time.”Cassius Clark (center) was the big winner of the Irving Blending & Packaging Pro Stock 250 on Sunday night. Johnny Clark (right) and Craig Slaunwhite were second and third in Atlantic Canada’s richest short track race of the year.
Thirty-one cars started Atlantic Canada’s biggest race of the year. Johnny Clark, a two-time winner of the 250, rallied late in the race and made a strong run to the front but had to settle for second place. Craig Slaunwhite, another former winner, came home third. Cassius Clark, DJ Shaw and Dave O’Blenis won the Pro stock heat races. Sarah McKay and Dylan Gosbee took the checkers in the Consolation races.
“Every time there was a caution we took our car in the pits and my team did everything possible to make the car better and that’s why we finished second” said Johnny Clark, from Hallowell, Maine. “Cassius was on top of his game tonight and we had nothing for him, but we’re still pleased to come back to 660 and get a great finish.”
Cassius Clark led the most laps including the Modern Electric Half Way Challenge, the Greenfield Enterprises lap and the Gordie Halpin Memorial lap. Each of those laps paid $1000. Clark, who led 246 of the 250 laps pocketed $15,100 in Contingency Award prize money. That combined with the $15,000 winner’s share, gave Clark over $30,000!
Rob Raynes won the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock 50 lap feature on Sunday. Raynes, the 2015 Street Stock champion, finished ahead of Courtney O’Blenis and Geoff Tugwell. Raynes and Roger Slocum won the Street Stock heat race.
