Championship Points on the Line!

Last Updated: August 15, 2013By

With just two point races remaining on the 2013 racing schedule, the action is really going to heat up at Speedway 660. This Saturday at 7PM, drivers will go all out to improve their chances of claiming one of five divisional championships in the Geary Woods.

“We’ve seen some great racing this year, but the next two Saturday nights our drivers are really going to have to step up and give it their best shot if they want to win one of our 2013 titles” said Speedway 660’s Michelle Roy. “We have great championship point battles in all of our divisions and even the drivers who aren’t in contention for titles will be racing hard to move into or stay in the top five or top ten in the standings.”

One of the tightest point battles at Speedway 660 is in the Martins Home Heating Sportsman Division. Greg Fahey (#20) has not been able to put much distance between himself and  Andrew Rodgers (#14) in the points. Going into Saturday night Fahey has a slim four point advantage over Rodgers and only five points separate third from sixth place in the Sportsman standings.

Race fans will see action in the West Wood Estate Apartments Bandolero, Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter, DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock, Martins Home Heating Sportsman and RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock Divisions. Sportsman, Pro Stock and Street Stock heat races get underway Saturday at 7PM, but the Bando and Sharp Shooter heats run at 6:20.

“The results this weekend will set the stage for our popular Fan Appreciation Night of Champions next weekend, so we’ll see some of the best racing of the year these next two Saturday nights” said Roy. “From Bandoleros to Sharp Shooters, Street Stocks to Sportsman and of course all the way up to the Pro Stocks, we’ve got five incredible divisions that will provide our fans with an evening of thrilling short-track racing.”

The DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock Division title is still up for grabs. Roger Slocum (#15) is looking for his first Speedway 660 championship, but he has only a five point lead over five time street stock champ Rick Cashol (#54). T.J. "Hollywood" Madore leads Luc MacLaughlin by just a single point in the battle for rookie of the year!

Adult ticket prices are $12; Youth tickets, for kids between 8 and 15 years of age are $9; the Family Pass for two Adults and two Youths is 40 dollars and; admission is always free for Speedway 660’s youngest race fans, seven and under.
