BEST of the BEST 150 & Free Admission for more Kids!
(July 27, 2017) The Clark Chevrolet Best of the Best 150 is on the Speedway 660 schedule for 6:30PM this Saturday. It’s one of Atlantic Canada’s most prestigious Pro Stock races of the season, with the winner and runner-up earning provisional starting positions in the McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250 on SpeedWeekend.
The RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock division drivers will face visiting drivers from around the Maritimes and New England in this event. Fans will also be treated to action in the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman, DMR Auto Sales Street Stock and Fredericton Gun Shop divisions.The Best of the Best 150 is always one of the most exciting races of the season. In addition to the Pro Stocks, fans will also get to see Sharp Shooter, Street Stock and Sportsman racing!
“The Best of the Best 150 is an opportunity to lock-up one of those provisional spots for the big SpeedWeekend race, but it’s also gives us a chance to see how we stack up against some of the best competition from the Maritimes and New England” said RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock point leader Brent Roy. “Last year in our rookie season we had mechanical issues and finished a disappointing 17th but we’ve been on a roll since the start of 2017 and are looking for a much better result in this year’s Best of the Best 150.”Brent Roy, Speedway 660’s Pro Stock point leader, is looking forward to this weekend’s Best of the Best 150. Earlier this month the “Camry Kid” won a RE/MAX Group Four Realty 50 lap feature.
Twenty-three drivers started the Best of the Best 150 a year ago. Cassius Clark (Farmington, Maine) won the race while Greg Fahey (St. Stephen, NB) finished second. Lonnie Sommerville (Saint John, NB) drove to a third place finish, Ben Rowe (Beechridge, Maine) was fourth and Kevin Moore (Fredericton, NB) was fifth.(L to R) Greg Fahey, Cassius Clark and Lonnie Sommerville were on the podium for the 2016 version of the Best of the Best 150. It’s always an incredibly competitive race and a good chance to prepare for the McLaughlin Roof Trusses 250 on SpeedWeekend.
This week officials announced there will be more free admissions to all upcoming events at Speedway 660! Adult ticket prices for the Best of the Best 150 are $25; admission is FREE for fans 15 years of age and under and; pit passes for fans 16 and over are $5.In an effort to make racing more affordable for families, Speedway 660 has decided to let more younger race fans through the gates free of charge.
From 1994 until 2015 kids seven and under were always admitted free of charge to Speedway 660 events. Last year, youngsters 12 and under got free admission to the races and now everyone 15 and under will be admitted free to all events, including SpeedWeekend!
The rain date for the McLaughlin Roof Trusses Best of the Best 150 is Sunday at 2PM. Clark’s number 13 crossed the finish line first, winning one of the biggest races of the year.
