A new era at Speedway 660!
Things are really happening quickly and are starting to take shape for the 20th anniversary season at Speedway 660. Since we bought Atlantic Canada’s top stock car racing facility, just a couple of months ago, we have discovered what the word busy really means!
My wife Shawna and our good friends Debbie and Gary Foley, from Oromocto, are finding out quickly just how much work is involved in getting ready for the racing season. We are really excited about this opportunity and are looking forward to the Riverview Ford Season Opener on May 25th.
Speedway 660 has been providing all of us with thrilling short track racing entertainment for two decades. We want to build on that history and our focus will be on the Speedway 660 family of fans, advertisers, race teams and staff who love this sport as much as we do. We’ve got some new ideas and will try to be innovative as we work hard to grow the sport in 2013 and the years to come.
I think fans and race teams will be happy with what we’ve done in the pit area. We’ve improved access to the seating area down there and it will be a lot easier and safer for everyone to go up and down the hill.
We are also replacing a lot of the boards in the stands to make it safer for Speedway 660 fans. There is still a lot of work to do, but we’ll be ready for the season opener in a couple of weeks.
Speedway 660’s fans are incredible. They love racing and are brand loyal to the businesses that market and advertise their products and services at our speedway. We are anxious to work with our current advertisers and look forward to attracting new companies as we expand our marketing efforts.
The reason we have strong attendance and great advertisers is because of the product on the track. Close to 100 race teams in five divisions put on an awesome show at each of our weekly events. And let’s not forget about the Enduro teams that will thrill their fans four times this year. We look forward to meeting all of the drivers, as well as other race team members, and working with everyone to grow the sport.
Speedway 660 also has a great group of staff and volunteers. Their love and dedication to the sport is unbelievable. We recently met the staff at an event we hosted at the Geary Lions Club and were happy to see they are as excited about the future of racing as we are.
Racing is a family-oriented team sport. The Foley and Roy families look forward to the 20th anniversary season and beginning the next chapter in the future of Speedway 660.
