$3K to win the Firecracker 150 at Speedway 660!

There are three thousand reasons for Sportsman drivers to come to Speedway 660 this weekend. The Martin’s Home Heating Firecracker 150 pays three grand to win and an extra hundred dollars in prize money will be added to every other top ten driver’s winnings.

The Martin’s Home Heating Firecracker 150 pays $3000 to win and is expected to draw a strong field of Sportsman cars and a large crowd on Saturday night at Speedway 660.

“It’s our biggest pay-out for a Sportsman race and one of the biggest purses of the year in Atlantic Canada for this brand of racing” said Speedway 660’s Chris Johnston. “When the Martin’s Home Heating 100 got rained out earlier in the year, Richard Martin wanted to make the Firecracker 150 a special event and that’s exactly what he has done.”

Speedway 660 Sportsman drivers are expecting several strong visiting teams to invade the Geary Woods this weekend. The Martin’s Home Heating Firecracker 150 is always a hard race to win and will be even tougher this year because the additional prize money should attract more cars.

“Last year we came from the back three times to win the Firecracker 150 but with the winner’s share set at three grand, this year’s race may just be the most competitive we have ever seen here” said Speedway 660 Sportsman driver Glyn Nott. “We’re expecting some of the best teams in the region plus a couple of pro stock drivers in really good Sportsman cars to provide incredible competition on Saturday night.”

Randy Moore currently leads the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman Division at Speedway 660. Only 17 points separate the top four drivers which include Moore, Richard Atkinson, Brent Roy and Nott. These four and the rest of the weekly Sportsman drivers will be out to defend their home turf.

“We have a history of having the best Sportsman division in the Maritimes and our race teams work hard to put on a great show for our fans every week” said Johnston. “The Martin’s Home Heating Firecracker 150 is going to have a strong field of cars and the team that ends up celebrating in the Speedway 660 Victory Lane is going to have to be at the top of their game.”

Fans will also see drivers in three other divisions on Saturday night. The RV World Street Stock, 4 cylinder and Hanwell Village Mart Bandolero teams will all be racing for championship points. Bando and four cylinder heat races are scheduled for 6:20PM, with the heats for the other two divisions beginning at 7PM.
