Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100 Presented by DMR Auto Paying $1,500 to Win

Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100 Presented by DMR Auto Paying $1,500 to Win

(Geary, NB – July 5th, 2018) – DMR Auto Sales and Service and Speedway 660 have upped the stakes for the inaugural Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100 on Saturday, July 21st. The 100-lap feature will pay $1,500 to the winner, making it one of the richest paydays for a Street Stock race in Atlantic Canada. Based on a 26-car field, the purse will feature over $8,500 in awards. Every driver who starts the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100 will receive $100 with pay increasing for a top ten finish.

A number of contingency bonuses will be available, including the DMR Auto and Speedway 660 Kids Club bonuses. In a promotion that began in June, random Kids Club members have been selected to be a part of the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100. These lucky boys and girls will be special guests at the race and will get to greet drivers during introductions and receive event jackets commemorating the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100.

In addition, each winner will pull a position at random prior to the race. The driver that finishes in that position will receive a cash bonus courtesy of DMR Auto and the contingency sponsors of the event. Lucky winners so far include Sierra Suttie, Arianna Goodwin and Lucas Goodwin. Two more winners, one per event, will be drawn during the Best of the Best Pro Stock 100 on July 7th and before the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100.

The race will honor Rick Arbeau. Arbeau is a valued member of the Speedway 660 family that is currently fighting cancer. Arbeau is known to most in the Geary woods as “Ricky Bobby,” hence the race being named the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100.

The Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100 will feature a halfway break at Lap 50 for teams to fuel their race cars and make small adjustments.

A number of big names have already circled the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100 presented by DMR Auto on their calendar. Alex Sheehan (Oyster Bed Bridge, PE) and along with teammate and former Late Model competitor Brodie MacQuarrie (Charlottetown, PE) lead the visitors into Speedway 660 on July 21st. Sheehan has won a number of major races in the region over the last 12 months, including the Brunswick 100 at Speedway Miramichi and the David Lambe Memorial at Oyster Bed Speedway.

A bonus for all teams based on Prince Edward Island, DMR Auto will be providing each Island team that races in the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100 with a Confederation Bridge Pass to help offset travel costs.

Luc McLaughlin (Geary), two-time DMR Auto Street Stock champion, has this event on his radar. McLaughlin has taken the 2018 season to chase major races with the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100 being one of those checkered flags he is hunting. McLaughlin is sure to be one of the favorites heading into the event.

Riley Goodwin (MacAdam) leads the DMR Auto Sales and Service Street Stock division into battle on Saturday, July 7th following his first feature win of the season last Saturday night. Justin Cole (Harvey) has won three feature events on the year with Roger Slocum (Chipman) and Shawn Hyslop (St. Stephen) each visiting victory lane once. A total of 16 cars have raced in at least one of the first six events at Speedway 660 this season.

The Walking Contradiction will be playing an early arrival concert on the evening of Friday, July 20th at Speedway 660. Admission is by donation.

A special thanks goes to a number of businesses that have provided promotional consideration for the Ricky Bobby Street Stock 100.
