(FREDERICTON, NB – September 8th, 2020) – Yves McCray (Neguac, NB) raced to his second SpeedWeekend Sunday win in as many years with his victory in the Krown Rust Control 35 at Speedway 660. McCray, who drove to victory lane in the Labour Day Classic in 2019, started seventh in the 35-lap feature and took what would be the eventual lead from Zean Dutcher (Miramichi, NB) just past the halfway point in the race. The final restart with eight laps to go would see McCray pull away from point leader Logan Power (Riverview, NB) to not only snap Power’s win streak but put McCray into victory lane for the first time in 2020. The win is McCray’s seventh in his Atlantic Modified Tour career.
FREDERICTON, NB – September 7th, 2020) – Ashton Tucker (Lyttleton, NB) became the first driver in the history of the RE/MAX East Coast Elite Realty Pro Stock 250 at Speedway 660 to win the event in back-to-back seasons Sunday with his win in the 20th Annual event. Tucker led 181 of the 250 laps and pocketed nearly $21,000 for his performance in the race. The 250 came down to a final restart with five laps to go, pitting two-time Maritime Pro Stock Tour champion Cole Butcher (Hantsport, NS) to Tucker’s rear bumper and Sydney, Nova Scotia’s Kyle Reid to his outside. Reid spun the tires on the final restart, setting up a showdown for third and a battle between Tucker and Butcher that ultimately resulted in Tucker racing away with his second straight 250 win.
Butcher, Reid, Steve Halpin (Saint John, NB) and Lonnie Sommerville (Barnesville, NB) completed the top five. Twenty-seven cars entered the event. Dave O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB), Craig Slaunwhite (Terence Bay, NS) and Ryan Messer (Harvey, NB) took home heat race wins.
Sunday support class racing was won by Yves McCray (Neguac, NB; Atlantic Modified Tour Krown Rust Control 35), Colton Noble (Upper Nine Mile River, NS; TCM Bandolero Blast Round Two), Jesse Deveau (Greenwood, NS; Mini Stock Open) and Riley Goodwin (McAdam, NB; DMR Auto Street Stock 50). They join Courtney O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB; Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 125), Cody Byrne (Orwell Cove, PE; Mini Stock), Tanton Wooldridge (Summerside, PE; TCM Bandolero Blast Round One), Braden Langille (Shubenacadie, NS; Legend), Chris Wilson (South Esk, NB; Bryn Enterprises 35 Atlantic Modified Tour) and Randy Storey (Royal Road, NB; Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters) as SpeedWeekend winners in 2020.
