MARTIN, O’BLENIS KICK OFF SPEEDWEEKEND WITH FRIDAY VICTORIES

(GEARY, NB – September 4th, 2021) – Dave O’Blenis (Boundary Creek, NB) and Matt Martin (Geary, NB) started SpeedWeekend at Speedway 660 in a familiar place – Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane! The pair picked up feature victories on Night One of Three of racing action for SpeedWeekend 2021 at the Geary, New Brunswick oval.

O’Blenis, substituting for Braxton Stafford (Miramichi, NB) in the No. 91 car, took home the Atlantic Modified Tour Exhibition event. In the car that won the last race on the Series at Speedway Miramichi in August, the 2002 RE/MAX East Coast Elite Realty 250 winner was able to race to the win over reigning Series champion Yves McCray (Neguac, NB) and Doug Matchett (Miramichi, NB). McCray and Zean Dutcher (Miramichi, NB) took home heat race wins in the nine car field.

Martin won his second straight Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter feature to kick off SpeedWeekend 2021. The Gunslinger 50 winner crossed the line second but was awarded the victory after Chris Garnett (Havelock, NB) did not pass post race technical inspection. Darren Wilcox (Fredericton, NB) and Ryan McKnight (Sussex, NB) joined Martin on the podium. Martin, Riley Goodwin (McAdam, NB) and Jesse Madore (Fredericton, NB) captured heat wins in the 27-car field.
