(FREDERICTON, NB – July 28th, 2021) – The cars and stars of the Atlantic Modified Tour head back to Speedway 660 in Geary, New Brunswick this weekend for two races in as many days. The double header weekend at the 1/3-mile oval will see a 35-lap feature presented by Chess Piece Café on Saturday, July 31st followed a second 35-lap main event presented by Kamizo Transport on Sunday, August 1st. Racing action begins on Saturday night at 6:30pm with Sunday’s program getting the green flag at 2pm.

Consistency has returned Travis Conroy (Miramichi, NB) to the top of the Atlantic Modified Tour point standings. Conroy registered a feature win to begin the 2021 season at Petty International Raceway and returns to Speedway 660 where he was knocking on the door of a podium finish in June. With only a six point cushion on the field and two full point races to come over the weekend, this weekend could be a turning point for the No. 7 Patterson’s Sales and Service team.

Behind Conroy in the standings is the most recent Atlantic Modified Tour winner at Speedway 660 and reigning Series champion in Yves McCray. In fact, the Neguac, New Brunswick driver has won the last two Atlantic Modified Tour events contested at the Geary track dating back to SpeedWeekend 2020. McCray hit a proverbial bump in the road during the last race at Speedway Miramichi, which pushed him back to second in the standings after a quarter of the point races in the 2021 season.

Four races in 2021 have produced four different winners. In addition to Conroy at Petty International Raceway and McCray at Speedway 660, Doug Matchett (Miramichi, NB) and Chris Wilson (South Esk, NB) have wins to their credit at Speedway Miramichi. While Wilson is not running for the championship this season, he will be in attendance Saturday night for the Chess Piece Café 35. Matchett finds himself third in the championship points with a 17 point gap to make up on Conroy.

If the streak of four different winners in four races is to be extended, look no further than the driver who paced the field for most of the last Mod stop at Speedway 660. Braxton Stafford (Miramichi, NB) has led the most laps in feature competition this season without holding a checkered flag, a statistic he is wanting to change over two days this weekend. Stafford was well on his way to winning the Bryn Enterprises 35 in June at the track before a mechanical failure took him out of the top spot within the final five laps.

Joe Hoyt (Waasis, NB) enters his home track with a string of three top five finishes on his side. While he will be the first to admit that he doesn’t worry about points, he finds himself locked into a battle for third in the standings – three points behind Matchett and five points ahead of Zean Dutcher (Miramichi, NB). Both Hoyt and Dutcher will look to add their first feature victory to their tally before the first half of the season comes to a close on Sunday afternoon.

The Rookie of the Year battle returns to the home turf of Brody Levesque (Lincoln, NB). The multi-time Sharp Shooter feature winner will look to turn around his freshman year and gain points on rookie leader Michael Savoie (Tracadie, NB) and the No. 00 Kamizo Transport Modified.
