SHARP SHOOTERS BACK IN SPOTLIGHT SATURDAY AT SPEEDWAY 660

(FREDERICTON, NB – August 11th, 2022) – The biggest stock car racing division at Speedway 660 steps back into the spotlight on Saturday evening, August 13th as the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters will compete in a 40-lap feature. The extended distance four cylinder event presented by JD’s Hillview Autorepair is joined on the card by the Late Model Sportsman and the Shur-Fit Auto Parts, Bumper to Bumper Street Stocks. Racing action begins on Saturday at the Geary, New Brunswick oval at 6:30pm.

BJ Gillespie has had a firm grip on the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter standings this season and enters this extended distance event with a comfortable 37 point lead over Alex Gallant. Gallant, meanwhile, has 28 points separating himself from sixth place as Randy Titus, Wesley Harnish, Mitchell Harvey and Daniel Atyeo all look to make moves this weekend. Gillespie is the most recent winner in the class that has seen 27 different drivers compete in at least one race so far in 2022.

Much like Gillespie, Rick Cashol has a comfortable lead in the Shur-Fit Auto Parts, Bumper to Bumper Street Stock class. Rookie Ron Enkel is second with Ricky Bobby 150 winner Michael Cormier, Kyle MacKinnon and Jonathan Hanley completing the top five in the division after seven events.

The O’Blenis sisters are trying to settle the Late Model Sportsman division amongst themselves but cannot seem to shake “The Old Musket.” Alexandra O’Blenis has an eight point lead on her younger sister Courtney O’Blenis while Richard Atkinson sits just 14 points behind the championship leader. Caleb Urquhart, coming off his first podium finish one week ago, is the rookie leader in the Late Model Sportsman division.

Saturday’s event is the final stock car show before SpeedWeekend 2022, taking place from September 2nd to 4th. Next weekend, the NAPA Auto Parts World Series of Monster Trucks takes to Speedway 660 for three action packed shows. The Major League of Freestyle Motocross will also take to the skies with their tricks. Tickets are available for the NAPA Auto Parts World Series of Monster Trucks by heading to Showpass.com.

For the sixth straight season, children aged 15 and under will be admitted to the grandstands for free to every stock car event at Speedway 660. The admission structure makes it easier for families to attend race events at the track and received positive feedback from fans when implemented mid-season in 2017.

Adult grandstand admission prices are $20 (aged 16 and up). Pit admission is $25 and is restricted to those 16 years of age and older. Tickets are available at the gate on race day. New in 2022, all those entering the pit gates must complete their insurance waiver online prior to heading to the track. This can be done on any smart phone and takes seconds to complete. The link to the form can be found on Speedway660.com under the “Race Team Information” menu or by going to Speedway660.speedwaiver.com. A complete race day format will be available via the track’s Facebook page, www.facebook.com/Speedway660.
