Fredericton, NB – During June, Mother Nature forced us to cancel some exciting races, but we have rescheduled The Parts for Trucks 100 featuring the CARQUEST Pro Stock Tour for Saturday July 25, 2009 at 7pm.
Fredericton, NB – After a very successful first ever FANFEST at Speedway 660 we are ready for some more excitement this weekend. Fans can see exciting racing this Saturday under the lights as the Coast Tire “Best of the Best” Pro Stock 100 and the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman 100. Fans will get to see their favorite drivers in the Martins Sportsman and Irving Lubricants Pro Stock classes compete for 100 laps. This will be the first big event of the season for the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division as well as the second race of the “Best of the Best” Pro Stock series.
First a few words about last week’s Fan Fest. What a great turn-out and what a great night of free racing for new and loyal fans alike. It was really nice to see lots of new faces at Speedway 660 and by all reports these folks really enjoyed their night at the races. On my way out to the parking lot, at the end of the evening, I couldn’t help but over-hear several new fans making positive comments about our racing.
What about John Rankin and Kevin Moore? John powered his number 28 to the Auto Pride Victory Lane to become the first driver to win two Sportsman features this season. And Big Kevin had an awesome run to win his first Irving Lubricants Pro Stock feature of the year.
Fredericton N.B.- Mother nature has not been to kind to us lately as it has rained on our parade or so to speak the past couple weekends. She did not win this weekend. All week the forecast has been showing rain for this weekend. Track officials made the decision to wait until later in the day to make the decision whether to race or not to race. The right decision was definitely made as the races went on and what exciting racing it was.
It was the first FANFEST 2009 presented by Sojourn Signs event at Speedway 660 and it was a huge success. Drivers, crews and race fans of all ages were admitted into the track for FREE. This was a great opportunity to show appreciation for all the support that the drivers, crews and fans show each and every week. It was good to see a lot of regular race fans and a lot of new faces in the crowd tonight. Guaranteed they will become regulars now that they have seen what they have been missing. Racing is a wonderful sport and one that can be very addictive once you have heard the cars, and have seen racing from some of the finest drivers in Canada each and every week.
Lets go racing. I think we are all tired of these forecasts and it was supposed to rain all day and havent seen a drop yet. Sun is poking out at the track. Pits open at 3pm and racing at 7pm.
Looks like another Saturday forecast in the Maritimes. Depending on what forecast you look at you might see some rain, a SUN, clurds, or showers. It’s pretty much all covered. There are some forecasts calling for a dry afternoon. Given the way the weather has changed from what was forecasted the last few weeks we are going to wait until 1pm and re-evaluate the evening weather forecast. We try our best to make the calls early in the day to allow fans and racers to get their day back but we really need to wait a few more hours on this one.
Check back at 1pm for more details.
To all our season pass holders,
When you come in this Saturday night and use your season pass you will receive a voucher with a $10 value that is valid at Joyce’s pit stop and in the Alpine Zone for Saturday July 4th Fan Fest events. Thanks again for your continued support for Speedway 660.
