Wow, what a SpeedWeekend! 2014 will go down as one of the most memorable SpeedWeekend’s ever. Travis Benjamin’s first Re/Max 250 victory was one of the most exciting in the history of the race. Check out our massive SpeedWeekend Photo Album.

SPEEDWEEKEND SATURDAY

Campground Speedweekend 2014The campground was full and race fans gathered from all over the Maritimes, Quebec and the eastern United States for SpeedWeekend 2014.

Russell Smith Sportsman heat winner SpeedWeekend 2014 On Saturday night, the first race of SpeedWeekend was won by Russell Smith, who punched his ticket to the Irving Oil Blending & Packaging 150.

Andrew Rodgers SpeedWeekend Sportsman heat winnerAndrew Rodgers grabs the second heat race and qualifies for the biggest Sportsman race of the season.

Ryan Messer AMT heat winner SpeedWeekend 2014Ryan Messer, a former Speedway 660 Bando champ, wins an AMT heat race.

Cory Hall Bando heat winner SpeedWeekendCory Hall was on his game during SpeedWeekend 2014. The young man from Jolicure, won the Westwood Estate Apartments Bandolero heat race.

Cole Tanner 3rd bando feature SpeeedWeekend 2014Cole Tanner, our 2014 Bando champion, raced to a third place finish in the SpeedWeekend feature. Cole is graduating from the Bando class and moving up to a Legend Car next year. Good luck Cole, thanks for the great memories and let’s hope we get those Legends up to Speedway 660 in 2015!

Sportsman wreck 2014 SpeedWeekendLap One Wreck! Dylan Gosbee and Alexandra O’Blenis got into the fence early in the 150 lapper. Note the broken pole. It had to be repaired and fans had to patiently wait before the race could resume.

Sportsman action SpeedWeekend 2014When the race restarted these Sportsman drivers put on an incredible show for the SpeedWeekend fans. There was lots of door-to-door and bumper-to-bumper racing on this night!

Dave O'Blenis Sportsman winner SpeedWeekend 2014When all was said and done Dave O’Blenis accepted the winner’s trophy and cheque  for the Irving Oil & Blending Packaging 150.

Colby SMith 2nd Sportsman race SpeedWeekend 2014Colby Smith came across the stripe second in the Sportsman race. When the drivers went back to the pits, Colby’s car failed to pass the post race tech inspection.

Dave O'Blenis Sportsman winner SpeedWeekend 2014Team O’Blenis celebrates a win in the big Sportsman race. The victory was especially sweet because Irving Oil Blending & Packaging is the primary sponsor on all of the O’Blenis race cars.

Boudreau & Nott wreck SpeedWeekend 2014The first qualifying heat for the Re/Max 250 got ugly in a hurry! Cole Boudreau and Glyn Nott got tangled up in corner three. Remarkably both drivers were OK and both cars ended up in the starting grid of the 250!

Dave O'Blenis heat action pro stock speedweekend 2014Dave O’Blenis beats Travis Benjamin to the stripe to win the first heat and grab the pole position for the Re/Max 250. What a way to follow-up that big Sportsman win a few hours earlier.

Kirk Theibeau in the dfence SpeedWeekend 2014Another wreck in the second heat. This time Kirk Thibeau hits the fence down in turn one. Kirk’s team worked hard to get the car back on the track and ended up having to take a Past Champion’s Provisional to get into the Re/Max 250.

Chuck Morton SpeedWeekend 2014 Street Stock heat winnerChuck Morton picked a fine time to win a race. Chuck scored the victory in the third Street Stock heat.

wiggens & christie tangle SpeedWeekend 2014Trying hard to get in the show! Brent Wiggins and Derek Christie spin-out in the first of two Pro Stock Consi races. Christie would be forced to take a Provisional to get into the Re/Max 250 and Wiggins didn’t make the Show.

Brady Creamer Consi winner SpeedWeekend 2014A sigh of relief! Brady Creamer drove his car to victory in the other Consi. That gave him a starting position in the Re/Max 250.

Jeremy Doran wins SpeeedWeekend sharp shooter featureJeremy Doran caps off a brilliant season by winning the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter feature. We might just see this young man move up to Street Stock or Sportsman racing in 2015.

Enkle dumps Cashol SpeedWeekend 2014Number 52 Destiny Enkle, the Port City Princess, dumps Cashol in the late stages of the Street Stock race. Poor Ricky has got to be thinking he’s in an ENDURO race.

Slocum & Tugwell door to door SpeedWEEKEND 2014Rogers Slocum and Geoff Tugwell battled each other hard the last few laps of this exciting 50 lap SpeedWeekend Street Stock feature. Door-to door through three and four, the two drivers raced to the checkerd flag.

Roger Slocum 2nd street stock feature SpeedWeekend 2014Roger Slocum had plenty to smile about with an awesome 2nd place finish in the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock feature.

660_9938The rain comes and despite efforts to dry the track, it became evident that the Re/Max 250 would not be run on SpeedWeekend Sunday. After studying the weather forecast, a decision was made to start the race at early on SpeedWeekend Monday.

SPEEDWEEKEND MONDAY

Re/Max 250 2014 The Re/Max 250 finally goes green at 10:05AM on SpeedWeekend Monday! Dave O’Blenis sprints out to an early lead before dropping back a few spots. O’Blenis kept the leaders in sight, but retired due to engine issues later in the race and settled for a 20th place finish.

Bejamin & Theriaul Re/Max 250 action 2014It didn’t takes these two cats long to get to the front and stay there most of the day! Travis Benjamin (#17) and Austin Theriault (#57) put on some show for the fans at Speedway 660.

Re/Max 250 caution 2014It took 70 laps before the first Service Master Clean Caution came out. There were several long green flag runs and the entire race was run in just two hours and 13 minutes!

Tucker & Gosbee Re/MAx 250 action 2014Three-time Re/Max 250 winner Shawn Tucker (#52) and Dylan Gosbee both had strong cars early in the race.  Tucker’s car fell off a bit later in the race and he settled for a tenth place finish, while Gosbee’s day ended with a disappointing 19th.

Lonnie Sommerville in Scott Fraser tribute car SpeedWeekend 2014Lonnie Sommerville ran a Scott Fraser “tribute car” in the BIG RACE. Lonnie struggled early, but after several pit stops the car came around and he finished in 5th as the top Canadian in the race.

Team Benjamin wins Re/MAx 250 2014Travis Benjamin finally got to the Riverview Ford Victory Lane in the Re/Max 250!  Travis, who has been sponsored by Irving for many years, was ecstatic to win the BIG RACE right in the heart of IRVING COUNTRY!

Jesse Madore wins ENDURO 200 Speedweekend 2014Jesse Madore drove his machine to victory lane. Jesse won two out of three ENDUROs this year, but missed the championship by two measly points! 

Pat Sharp 2014 enduro champ Pat Sharpe and his team were second in the  race, but more important, they captured their fourth ENDURO title at Speedway 660! Congrats to the Woodstock Warriors!

Team Barton 3rd at the SpeedWeekend enduro 2014Team Barton comes home third in the ENDURO and Courtney won an extra couple of hundred for spinning the most cars in the final 50 laps.
