Glyn Nott Makes it a Repeat FIRECRACKER Win!!!

Fredericton, NB – Although Mother Nature let the skies open at periodic moments throughout the evening, the FIRECRACKER 150 event was another successful night at Speedway 660. Some of the greatest Sportsman competition attended Speedway 660 tonight to make the FIRECRACKER go out with a BANG and make for a wild night!

In the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman division, Glyn Nott in the #12 made a repeat FIRECRACKER win along with sweeping the two biggest races for the Sportsman division in the 2008 Season. Following behind the #12 was the only Dodge of this division, the #44 of George Jamieson who had his hands with the #40 of Richard Atkinson who rounded up the tail end of the top three podium finishes. Although Speedway 660 Sportsman drivers swept the top three, there were other fantastic competitors from all over New Brunswick who took part in the FIRECRACKER 150 such as Charlie Wilkins in the #33, Doug Craswell in the #3, Corey Little in the #83, Calvin Rankin in the #45 and new to the 2008 season Robert Minor in the #48, John Rankin in the #28, and Joey Rogers in the #12. The Sportsman drivers put on an awesome show week to week but took tonight’s performance up to the next notch of excitement making it more thrilling for fans.

In The Irving Lubricants Pro Stock Division the #20 of Greg Fahey lead a dominating race and took home the feature win in the Pro Stock division. Fahey has some tough competition behind him with the #17 of Brent Wiggins and the #18 of Brian MacNaughton tight on his tail. Wiggins ended the evening in the with another podium finish tonight, second place, while Brian MacNaughton, a rookie driver took home his first podium finish of the 2008 Season. Tonight’s Pro Stock division has a few extra divers on tap for competition. One of the most notable competitors to return to Speedway 660 since 2007 was the #81 of Glen Rasmussen. Rasmussen had taken some time off at the beginning of the season for personal reasons but was greeted with a warm welcoming back to the speedway for his first race. Hopefully Speedway 660 will see the return of the 2007 Pro Stock Champion for many races to come.

In the Coast Tire Street Stock division a new face to victory lane, and the first time this season, was inducted. Roger Slocum in the #15 took home his first feature podium finish of the 2008 season. Slocum wasn’t able to take the easy route to victory because Matt Matheson in the #2 was on his hind tail throughout the whole race with Jason Shannon in the #20 wasn’t to far behind. Matheson added another notch to his podium finish belt while Shannon rounded out the top three for tonight’s feature.

Tune into Speedway 660 next weekend for the second double header event of the season. The Enduro 200 will be held Friday night while the Dent Daddy Street Stock 75 will be Saturday night to make it an action packed weekend with some WicKID excitement.
