The Sunday Photo Album

Speedway 660 celebrated a great season of point racing on Saturday with Fan Appreciation Night of Champions. The weather was perfect, the racing was awesome and the 2013 Champions and Rookie of the Year award winners were decided. Check out this week’s photo album of champions, rookies and podium finishers.

Several hundred fans came to Speedway 660 on Saturday evening for our popular pre-race autograph session with drivers in all five of our racing divisions.

Drew Greenlaw claimed the 2013 West Wood Estate Apartments Bandolero championship at Speedway 660. Drew won the Bando feature to make sure he captured his first title. Next year this kid wants to move into our Sportsman division. Congrats on a great season Drew!

Ashton Tucker came home third in Saturday night’s feature. This 12 year old “Wonder-Boy” is our 2013 Bandolero Rookie of the Year. Look out in 2014, because this young man is going to be a championship contender!

Courtney O’Blenis raced to another podium finish in the Bando feature Saturday night. Courtney finished in second place and looks forward to another strong run next Saturday night when the Bandolero drivers run in front of the big SpeedWeekend crowd.

Tyler Seveck became the first two time Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter Champion. He finished just two points ahead of Jeremy Doran and only three in front of Daniel Clark. On Fan Appreciation Night of champions we got it wrong and actually declared Daniel the champ. A mistake in point calculations, earlier in the season, was discovered and the corrected point totals showed the real champ was Tyler. Congratulations to Team Seveck and we offer our most sincere apologies to Daniel and his team.

Malcolm Suley is Speedway 660’s Sharp Shooter Rookie of the Year. The driver from Clarendon had a pretty good season and is looking forward to stepping up in 2014 and challenging for the championship.

Ira Farnell won the Sharp Shooter feature on Fan Appreciation Night of Champions. Ira led the points race in this tough division, early in the season, but a couple of rough outings dropped him out of the chase. But Ira’s car was pretty fast Saturday night and he looks forward to having another great run on SpeedWeekend.

Jeremy Doran made a couple of wild and crazy moves early in Saturday night’s Sharp Shooter feature. Jeremy came up just a little short in his attempt to win the feature and the  championship. Jeremy settled for second in the feature and plans on going after that Sharp Shooter title in 2014.

Darren Beatty has developed into one of our up and coming Sharp Shooter drivers. Darren followed up a recent feature victory with an impressive third place podium finish in the final point race of the year.

Speedway 660 fans went wild when Roger Slocum won the 2013 DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock Championship. Roger had to make some big moves in the feature to out-duel five time Street Stock champ Rick Cashol for this year’s title. A fourth place finish was just enough to give Slocum his first Speedway 660 championship.

Luc MacLaughlin is our 2013 Street Stock Rookie of the Year. Luc, surrounded by his family and team-mates, was the Sharp Shooter champ last year and in 2011 won the Rookie of the Year in the Sharp Shooter Division. Luc hopes he continues his trend by winning the Street Stock title in 2014.

A caution-free run helped Kevin McKeen win the street stock feature Saturday night. But his checkered flag run was no fluke, because McKeen also won his heat race and the dash!

TJ “Hollywood” Madore celebrates a second place feature finish with his “cammo-crew” on Saturday night. Hollywood battled his good friend Luc MacLaughlin for the Rookie of the Year Award all season long. Madore, who moved up from our Sharp Shooter division, is one of Speedway 660’s young Street Stock stars!

Benji Ruff picked up a third place finish in the Street Stock feature on Saturday night. The former Enduro champion, had better watch out, because “Little Green Hat” wants that trophy!

Greg Fahey made history on Saturday night becoming the first driver ever to win titles in Speedway 660’s top three divisions. Greg won his heat race and the dash before finishing second in the feature to take the Martins Home Heating Sportsman crown. Our new Sportsman champ also has two Street Stock and three Pro Stock championships to his credit.

Sarah McKay is the 2013 Sportsman Rookie of  the Year at Speedway 660. Sarah won her heat race Saturday night for her first ever victory in a Sportsman car. McKay, who had a lot of success racing go-karts on a national stage, is now determined to be a contender for next year’s Sportsman championship. Great year Sarah and go for it in 14!

Brent Roy sure had a strong finish in point races at Speedway 660. Brent won his second straight feature on Saturday night. The Camry Kid now has his sights set on the Irving Blending & Packaging 150 next Saturday night. After finishing second in both the Martins Home Heating 100 and Firecracker 150, Roy and his team are focused on getting back to the Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane on SpeedWeekend.

Andrew Rodgers had an awesome season in our Sportsman division. Andrew, who finished second in points, came home third in Saturday night’s feature.

Dave O’Blenis captured his second straight RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock championship on Saturday night. O’Blenis, who won the feature, now has four Speedway 660 Pro Stock titles. Up next: SpeedWeekend double duty. Dave will run the Irving Blending & Packaging Sportsman 150 and the Auto Value Pro Stock 250 next weekend.

Brenda & Glyn Nott and their race team celebrate the 2013 Pro Stock Rookie of the Year award at Speedway 660. Glyn, the 2012 Sportsman champ, enjoyed his best night ever in a Pro Stock winning his heat race, the dash and coming home second in the feature.

Brian Gillespie and his wife Karen celebrate a third place finish in the last Pro Stock point race of 2013. Brian dedicated the podium finish to his Dad Willard who recently passed away.
