Best of the Best 150 Photo Album

The Best of the Best 150 was one of our most exciting Pro Stock races of the year. Speedway 660′s RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock Division drivers put on a great show for our fans. There was also awesome action in the Martins Home Heating Sportsman, DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock, Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter and West Wood Estate Apartments Bandolero Divisions. Check out this week’s photo album.

Best of the Best Pro Stock 150

Dave O’Blenis enjoys the trip to the Riverview Ford Victory Lane after winning the Best of the Best Pro Stock 150. The RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock driver says he still has a lot of work to do to get ready for the Auto Value 250 on SpeedWeekend. O’Blenis will be gunning for his 2nd Auto Value 250 win on Sunday, September 1st.

Lonnie Sommerville led several laps but had to settle for 2nd place in the Best of the Best 150. The two-time Auto Value 250 champion says he has to find a way to be better when SpeedWeekend rolls around in about a months time. Sommerville gave credit to Dave O’Blenis, who won the race, but says Dave is not the only one who has to make improvements before the big race on September 1st.

Matt Harris’s car came to life in the final 20 laps of the Best of the Best 150. Harris came home third, but says he’s a little rusty behind the wheel because he hasn’t been racing a lot in 2013. Harris says he’s got to get some more seat time between now and SpeedWeekend. Matt finished third in the 2012 Auto Value 250 and is looking for his first win in this year’s edition of the race.

Martins Home Heating Sportsman

Brady Creamer had his best day ever at Speedway 660 on Sunday. The young Miramichi driver won the Jensen Financial Group Triple Crown Award by taking the checkered flag in his heat, dash and feature. Creamer has waited a long time for this kind of success in the competitive Martins Home Heating Sportsman Division and says he can’t wait to get back to the Geary Woods for the Firecracker 150 on Saturday, August 10th.

Andrew Rodgers finished 2nd in the Martins Home Heating Sportsman feature for the third straight time. The teenage sensation battled Brady Creamer hard for the win, but in the end had to be content with yet another 2nd place. Young Andrew still has his sights set on that elusive feature win and it’s only a matter of time before he parks his #14 R.A. Lawrence Engineering machine in the Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane!

John Rankin was a hard charger in the Martins Home Heating Sportsman feature. He started last but worked his way up front and actually challenged Brady Creamer for the win, until a track-bar broke and he had to hang on for a third place finish. Rankin, a former Speedway 660 Sportsman champ, is bound to be a strong contender for the Firecracker 150 on August 10th.

DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock

Luc MacLaughlin became the first rookie to win a DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock feature. The former Sharp Shooter rookie of the year and champion leads a strong crop of first year drivers in this division. Three of the top four in Sunday’s feature were from the rookie class of 2013!

Kenny MacKenzie Jr. (center) was a pretty happy racer on Sunday, winning his street stock heat and dash before coming home 2nd in the feature. MacKenzie jumped from the bando division to street stock this season and is having a great year at Speedway 660.

Third place Robert Raynes was the only veteran to crack the top four in the DMR Auto Sales & Service Street Stock feature on Sunday. With MacLaughlin’s win, MacKenzie’s 2nd place and T.J. "Hollywood" Madore’s 4th place finish, the rookies showed the vets a thing or two. Perhaps there is a changing of the guard in Speedway 660′s exciting street stock division.

Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooters

Randy Campbell made a visit to the Riverview Ford Lincoln Victory Lane on Sunday. Campbell won the Fredericton Gun Shop Sharp Shooter feature. Randy also is a crew member for Rick Cashol and Rick’s grandson Gregory in the street stock division. That makes Randy a pretty busy boy on race day in the Geary Woods!

Jeremy Doran is having a pretty good season at Speedway 660. Jeremy is one of our top Sharp Shooters and picked up a 2nd place finish in Sunday’s feature. This division has the highest car count and is an affordable form of racing that makes it possible for guys like Jeremy to get into the sport.

Tyler Seveck continued his string of good runs in the Sharp Shooter Division by coming home third. Tyler, a former champion in this division, is one of the most consistent Sharp Shooters at Speedway 660!

West Wood Estate Apartments Bandoleros

Alicia Mowat was a happy young lady after capturing the win in the West Wood Estate Apartments Bandolero Division feature. Alicia is one of our best Bando drivers, but has her sights set on strapping into a RE/MAX Group Four Realty Pro Stock ride someday soon.

Drew Greenlaw challenged Alicia for the win on Sunday, but had to settle for 2nd place. Drew has been impressive in 2013 but if he keeps growing he’s not going to be able to fit into his bando much longer. But that’s OK because rumour has it that this teenager is going to be stepping up, perhaps into a Martins Home Heating Sportsman car.

Courtney O’Blenis had a wild ride on Sunday afternoon. She got roughed-up coming out of the final turn and ended up crossing the finish line "slide-ways". But she was still able to bring her Irving Blending & Packaging ride to the podium with an impressive third place finish. Nice job Courtney!
