Weekly Points Series’ Heating Up at Speedway 660!

Fredericton, NB: Race teams in five exciting divisions head to the Geary Woods on Saturday evening to hunt for championship points. Drivers will be out to bag as many points as possible in the Hanwell Village Mart Bandoleros, the 4 cylinders, the RV World Street Stocks, the Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman and the A.L. Gullison Disaster Kleenup Pro Stock Divisions.

Greg Fahey (#20) and Dave O’Blenis (#48) are tied for the point lead in the A.L. Gullison Disaster Kleenup Pro Stock Division at Speedway 660.

“The competition is intense in all five divisions this year and our race teams are anxious to put together good runs this weekend to stay in championship contention” says Speedway 660’s Steve Burns. “Our Weekly Points Series Events are the best in Atlantic Canada and our loyal fans follow those championship battles very closely.”

The best early season points race is between Greg Fahey and Dave O’Blenis. Fahey, who has won three of the last four pro stock titles, and O’Blenis, who is back for a full schedule this year, are tied atop the leader board. These two fan favourites are likely to battle each other hard all season long.

“Our fans love pro stock racing and Fahey and O’Blenis are two of the best in the business” says Burns. “They both own multiple Speedway 660 championships, but Kevin Moore, Chris Duncan, Brian Gillespie along with the rest of our pro stock drivers will continue their efforts to chase down the two early season point leaders.”

The two new divisions at Speedway 660 are also extremely competitive this year. T.J. Madore leads the four cylinder drivers, but there are only nine points separating the top five. And in the Hanwell Mart Bandoleros, Cole Tanner has a slim three point edge over Cole Boudreau, who is just two up on 2011 champ Dana Hamm-Cameron.

As usual, the RV World Street Stock and Martin’s Home Heating Sportsman divisions are providing fans with exciting racing and championship battles. Defending street stock champ Rick Cashol is still the man to beat in street stocks and it’s a mad scramble in sportsman.

Saturday evening is a sure bet to be another exciting Weekly Points Series Event at Speedway 660. Racing officially starts at 7PM, however heat races in the Bando and 4 cylinder divisions kick off at 6:20.
