At 1:30 PM today officials from Speedway 660 were forced to postpone the O’Leary Buick GMC 150 to Monday. Weather forecasts and radars had changed dramatically throughout the day but in the hours leading up to the call heavy down pours forced officials to make the decision.
The O`Leary Buick GMC 150 will be moved to Monday with a 1 PM start time. Officials felt this would allow travelling teams and fans to get on the road at a decent hour after the race on Monday. The schedule for Auto Value 250 Sunday remains the same with the exception of the gates opening for the race teams. Pits gates will open at 7 AM.
All race teams will have the option tonight (Saturday) to park their haulers and cars in the pits and Pro Stock teams will have the option of being teched, otherwise Pro Stock cars will go through tech line tomorrow morning. This will get underway at approximately 6 PM tonight.
Based on what we are seeing with the current track of the storm it appears to have turned north west. We are scheduled to get some rain into late morning and perhaps early afternoon. NASCAR Veteran Benson Returning to Challenge for the 10th Annual Auto Value 250
Fredericton, NB – Last year’s Auto Value 250 at Speedway 660 Speedway attracted one of the best fields of pro stock cars ever seen in the region. This year’s field has already broken that standard and today veteran NASCAR driver Johnny Benson has thrown his hat into the ring for the 2010 Auto Value 250. The 2008 Craftsman Truck Series Champion and former Nextel/Winston Cup regular announced that he has teamed with Martins Home Heating and Sommerville Racing to make the trek north to Fredericton, NB for the Labour Day event.
The Auto Value 250 is now celebrating its 10th Anniversary, and the region’s top pro stock drivers regard the race as the premier stock car event of the season. Benson is no stranger to the event as he led the charge of high profile drivers to compete with his entry in the 2005 and 2006 event.
